that looks right. install is real easy remove fuse from in line fuse holder. Raise tank, remove headlamp from housing. thread battery leads through rear of headlight and route along frame rail to battery. Tie off to frame. Inset headlamp into female plug, install male plug into factory headlight plug. Reinstall ehadlight, lower tank, connect cables to battery, reinstall inline fuse. See where you are going.

Improvement may not be as much as on a standard due to 1 versus 2 headlamps and less damage to factor wires but you will see some.

Not exactly sure what your problem is but if you've turned the key and got nothing - no lights, nothing - then there's a little trick that might get you out of trouble. Turn the bars quickly to each side hitting against the stops quite firmly. Sometimes this jolts it back to life. Of course you'll still have the problem and it will happen again but at least it will get you mobile.

Good luck and let us know how you go with the mechanic.

I have to ask, should we be concerned that the bike will shut down while we are riding after getting it to start this way?

My first thought is that you have a bad battery. My 08 touring had simular isssues until I swapped out the battery. It's all good since... with the exception of the ignition issue...

EB relay question

I bought an EB relay kit for my 2008 touring. However, last week, while having a new set of Avon's mounted on the 08, I sat on and fell for a brand new 2011 roadster that I took home instead. Therefore I have the kit in the box and I'm not sure if I need one for the roadster. One problem that I instantly see is that this kit is not an exact fit for my roadster due the the dual headlights. Two questions: Does the 11 roadster need the EB relay kit? and can I modifiy my kit to fit the roadster if it needs one? THANKS!

Warranty ignition

Been having problems with mine since June 2012. SEE POST DATED 6-1-2012 #68-69
Bike has been at dealer since July 13, 2012, warranty was up Aug. 30, 2012
Can't seem to fix intermittent fuel injection issue, so they think. (high idle, missing, stalling, miss firing) Replaced TPS twice, I think its intermittent due to ignition switch, intermittent power to ECU. Missed whole second half of riding season.

Working with a lawyer on the NE Lemon Law, they can have the MF'r!!!
40 cumulative days out of service.

If it works out they will be putting me on a new one and switching all my accessories over to it. I will be putting the relay kit on it immediately to prevent the ignition contacts from arcing and causing the same issue.......screw their warranty, isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Had Triumph Dealer replaced the ignition switch 3 times on my 2010 Roadster.

The last time it happened I was doing 75MPH on a freeway and I was lucky to survive that.

Filed for lemon law -- got all my money back from Triumph (their customer service did not want to deal with me in any way). So you're doing the right thing.

08 R3T Ignition Failed

Same problem. Pulled in to get fuel. Filled up, used restroom, returned to bike, turned key and no power. No accessories installed. Took about 3 hours to find and make repairs. Borrowed my dad's Venture Royal and road through town to search for a meter. Finally a man with a car pulled in with a trunk load of tools. Started guessing where to look and separated ignition switch plug. Found white wire burnt in connector.

Clipped wire on both sides of connector and installed two blue butt splices with a piece of #12 wire. Made it to hotel next morning. Very disappointing for such a fine motorcycle.

I need to check with my lawyer on the lemon law. However I would like nothing more than to put 100k miles on the R3. Absolutely love to ride it even with the car tire.

My son has a 675. Triumph just recalled it for regulator failure. Installed new regulator and it worked for one day. Now parked.

Just ridiculous!! Millions of ignition switches have been made bullet proof but does Triumph get it?...........ABSOLUTELY NOT! Oh yes, ..put relays in for your headlights and another for your starter solenoid but, God forbid..Triumph gets it!

Just unbelievable that we have to find so many solutions for Triumph's failings.
I'll just never understand why the British do NOT GET ELECTRONICS! From Lucas in the 60's and 70's until this very day, the electrics evade all of the Triumph engineers and remain sub-standard! Just BULL****!

if you think triumph is bad with electronics you should see what british airplanes have for electronics!!
nighmare is the word.. must be a cultural thing.
