ignition switch issue

Just an update...
So I fitted the relocation kit about 2 or 3 weeks ago had no trouble until yesterday when I stopped for fuel and it would not power on at all this time not even the horn or indicators would work so pulled all the fuses to check nothing there put them all back and presto no idea if it's still related to the original issue but I have noticed the barrel / switch that comes with the kit feels very cheap loose fitting and doesn't locate in the positions well .
Will keep you posted on any developments

With the relocation kit try to see if the horn still works with out the ign switch being on and if it does that sounds like a main battery connection problem.

It's just done it again and it's not coming back on at all now (No horn with relocation kit )

This is the problem with messing with it without finding the problem some times you get lucky and sometimes it makes it harder to deal with.
If you have alarm replace it with the orignal bypass plug.
Take 12v tester hook the clamp to neg batt terminal
Touch probe end to pos bat terminal will lite
Touch to each side of fuses if one side lights and the other side don't then that fuse is bad
This is a basic test I do not know how much experience that you have so will start with something simple.

I don't have a tester but have a multimeter, there is no alarm fitted,I do have a GIpro fitted, battery is good as far as I can tell and I have checked the fuses and the fuse box contacts (they range from 8v to 11v) im about to head down the garage again now and have another poke about.
I have been "messing about " (perfect discption ) with bikes for around 30 years but by no means any kind of guru or expert as it's all self taught trial and error, I tend to stay away from the more technical electrical side if I can (which is ironic as I build control and test panels for the grid lol, but to be honest I work from technical drawings and wiring diagrams with very limited problem solving required)

Well what you have is a bad connection problem.
Some have had battery connection/terminal connection problems
Some have bad ignition switchs
Some have fuse terminals getting hot and the terminals spreading apart losing volts/amps
Some have had the connector that the ignition wires feed into do a melt down. Ect
So 8 volts might just light up a small light bulb but definitely will not work a relays ect .
I would say haveing an electrical problem is like having a big water hose and it has a big hole in it so you have to find the hole and fix it to get a lot of water out the correct end
Save yourself some time and buy a 12volt test light when you hit 8 volts it will be dim a must have tool

Ok yeah need to go through it with a fine tooth comb ... Just got back from a run after taking everything out I've added including the relocation kit it powers on but still cuts out while riding I did notice sometimes when it cuts out instead of all the instruments doing it's thing as it dose when you first start it up the fuel light will come on for a few seconds (yes the tank is full lol)

Sounds like you have a nice resistance problem and a lot of those turn out to be a good melt down at that point and then you are walking.

Oh you are just a bundle of joy lol current issues aside I've had this bike about 15 years now give or take with no major issues and really nice to work on when ive had too or modding it

Just bit the bullet and bought the eatin beaver kit so I can atleast eliminate that
