My 2015 Rocket Roadster X, just over 10,000 miles and the gearbox is er...has stopped working.

It all happened in one day, having travelled about 30 miles.
Closing the throttle in 2nd, whilst approaching traffic lights and roundabouts, caused a rattling noise from the LH side of the gearbox. As it became louder, I could feel the vibration through the LH foot peg.

Rang Triumph, they said bring it in.

A short distance into the journey and all hell broke loose. An huge noise of crunching was caught by the microphone of the GoPro camera.
The run up to it happening, shows that the bike was was running well, apart from the 2nd gear rattle at roundabouts. After it happened, I couldn't engage 3rd, or 4th.
** The video wouldn't upload here, only 40 seconds in length, but too large **

Luckily, the M6 was v.busy and the matrix signs were mainly held at 40mph. 2nd gear for 40mph and 5th for 60mph.

Booked in for two days next week, for a complete strip down

Mate also DO NOT let them just swap over your your gears. While it is out get the dog gears undercut so you never have a problem with at least the gears rounding on you.

PTR racing in Victoria does a great job. I got mine done around 600 dollars postage included. Motorbike & Motorcycle Gearboxes Melbourne

I know dealers here feedback info to Triumph Aus so I imagine (especially given yours was a warranty job) that triumph UK are well aware of the problem.

This probably points more to a quality control issue that modern manufacturers face when they don't necessarily produce and assemble all of the bikes components in-house. To start off, all I wanted to know from my dealer was if triumph assembled the transmission or received the completed shafts from somewhere else...no one could answer the question.

Don't know how to delete posts but I do know where you can find the 'ignore' function so you don't have to waste oxygen reading the posts of certain mouth-breathers...
AFTER talking to TRIUMPH about trans problems they said Harley has far more trans problems for every 1000 bikes than the Rocket and they claim the Rocket is far better than all the other large cruisers SO I looked it up to see and yes lots of HARLEYs with trans problems

I mean, it does not matter how many Harleys blow up the gearbox, it will not make any difference to a person with a Triumph. The discussion was about a Bucked Gearfox in a Rocket, not how many Harley boxes broke. What does it matter ?

Yeah that is like their bikes are sh*t but our bikes are a bit less sh*t...

I really have no time for these clows. Soon I will buy an insurance write of for parts and spares...

Who gives a f#ck about harleys?

That is a good effort mate.

I also did new pistons and rings and full head port and polish and valves and a million other stuff too nut yeah I can not even see a stripdown and change gears job being job done in 2 days...

My dealer took 2 days to do a cam cover gasket (underwarranty) because of the amount of work they had on. I don't want to know how long the g/box repair have taken. They also sheared TWO bolts putting the suspension back on after a tyre change so I had limited faith in their workmanship anyway

I would like to thank all the fellars who have posted (relavent) information on the clutch gearbox repairs and great photos of their work on the units, I have given my Son who is in the process when time permits of pulling my /his now Touring for gearbox repairs, access to these posts and after "winnowing the wheat from the chaff" he will be not going in blind, some things the workshop manual don't show
Thanks again I will post the results when its finished and back on the road
