Very interesting, is this oil ok to use with a wet clutch - friction modified etc???

It isn't supposed to have friction modifiers. I've never had any slippage problems with my clutch since I've started using it.

I may have given the wrong temp from memory, it's been bugging me that I can't find the table, googled it and it is from minus ten degrees up I believe.

I called Don at Performance Oils UK (they supply Amsoil in England) and, in his opinion, bearing in mind that I don't Track Race, I have the best suited 10w40 oil available (of course he would say that )

Do whatever you think. I can only speak of my personal experience with these engines. I have NEVER had any issue with the 15/50 Motul we use, in fact quite the reverse, it has reduced issues.

My 2015 Rocket Roadster X, just over 10,000 miles and the gearbox is er...has stopped working.

It all happened in one day, having travelled about 30 miles.
Closing the throttle in 2nd, whilst approaching traffic lights and roundabouts, caused a rattling noise from the LH side of the gearbox. As it became louder, I could feel the vibration through the LH foot peg.

Rang Triumph, they said bring it in.

A short distance into the journey and all hell broke loose. An huge noise of crunching was caught by the microphone of the GoPro camera.
The run up to it happening, shows that the bike was was running well, apart from the 2nd gear rattle at roundabouts. After it happened, I couldn't engage 3rd, or 4th.

Luckily, the M6 was v.busy and the matrix signs were mainly held at 40mph. 2nd gear for 40mph and 5th for 60mph.

Booked in for two days next week, for a complete strip down

I have a 2016 R3R and you just described what I have been hearing and feeling on my left foot peg. I keep hearing and noticing something from my foot peg and look down to see if something is loose. I figured it was internal but could not figure it out. I have 3000 miles on it now, in the middle of a road trip. Its going in this winter for Triumph to fix it, it is all stock and I treat it well, let them try to say its not their mistake!!! Funny that is when the vibration started also!

Wow, not encouraged about all this. I have a brand new 2016 (now 3000 miles) on it and since day one I keep feeling a clunk vibration on left foot peg. I don't know if this is normal, but first gear very loud putting it in gear. Always owned Honda and Yamaha never had these sounds. But after reading this thread I am convinced there is an issue with the gear box and will go into the shop at end of season, maybe sooner. I believe that is when the vibration started.

Bummer had I known I could have checked it out for you one my way to the east coast last week. from the looks of it I could have stopped by and then just headed south on 47 back to my original route.

Bought it from Jacksonville Florida and had delivered in January. Bike was $5000 less from them.

Ya I meant since you had her in Fairbury last week. I would have bought from Jacksonville also if it saved me 5000 bucks. Looks to me like your only 90 miles north east of me. Mostly East I'm about 25 mile southwest of Peoria. Which dealer is going to work on it?
