Rememeber @sonny and @cusso ken and others -- I am no expert -- I do read many of the threads, and our site experts have repeatedly said, most of the transmissions can be expected to go for most of the bike's natural life without issue.

Being a "glass half full" kind of guy, this seems mostly full to me.

red thanks for that,i went out today for a few hours, the 4th to 5th kletter still accurs so there is a problem,it just not me .:whitstling:

I see the numbers on the oil bottle. I suggest you use an oil with 50 as a last number, also one with plenty of zinc in it.

This is what the a lot of the Kawasaki1400 GTR riders use all with good reports a lot of high mileage ones around with 100K plus trouble free, Full Zink 100% PAO Ester and an Aussie owned company maybe I should have run the Touring on it from the Start

I use the Amsoil Diesel and Marine 15-50. It has more zinc than is allowed in an oil designed for road use.
Very interesting, is this oil ok to use with a wet clutch - friction modified etc???

#ell I will stick with Mobil 4T 10W-40. I can buy it at the local auto store and have ran Mobil oil for a long time in numerous motorcycle.Good stuff.:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

My 2015 Rocket Roadster X, just over 10,000 miles and the gearbox is er...has stopped working.

It all happened in one day, having travelled about 30 miles.
Closing the throttle in 2nd, whilst approaching traffic lights and roundabouts, caused a rattling noise from the LH side of the gearbox. As it became louder, I could feel the vibration through the LH foot peg.

Rang Triumph, they said bring it in.

A short distance into the journey and all hell broke loose. An huge noise of crunching was caught by the microphone of the GoPro camera.
The run up to it happening, shows that the bike was was running well, apart from the 2nd gear rattle at roundabouts. After it happened, I couldn't engage 3rd, or 4th.
** The video wouldn't upload here, only 40 seconds in length, but too large **

Luckily, the M6 was v.busy and the matrix signs were mainly held at 40mph. 2nd gear for 40mph and 5th for 60mph.

Booked in for two days next week, for a complete strip down

Yep 2nd gear died at 30000km and got no love from Triumph. If anything they were rude and abusive to me.

I rebuild the entire bike my self and honestly I don't even feel like calling it a triumph anymore...

2 day strip down and rebuild? Good luck with that mate.

My previous triumph dealer who did many rebuilds during the call back for the older models said the best time he has was 36 hours and Triumph only paid for the 12.

When I did my rebuild my self it was around 75 hours.

Okay it was a complete rebuild but yeah I would expect it to be a complete week at the workshop if they are going to do a proper job.

I wonder what else is damaged...

Good luck mate

I took about 40hrs by myself...spread over 4 months....and I cleaned everything including every single nut and bolt as i went.

That is a good effort mate.

I also did new pistons and rings and full head port and polish and valves and a million other stuff too nut yeah I can not even see a stripdown and change gears job being job done in 2 days...
