Well, the day started out $hitty

I'm gonna fix the Rocket, but have been kicking around the idea of picking up a first generation Valkyrie for long rides. I was looking at them before I bought the R3.

I just sold mine for a song. It was just sitting in the garage unridden. Not good for the Valkie carbs. But if the R3 becomes a Royal pain like some are having to deal with, I might do the same and get another Valkie.

Man that really, really, really, SUCKS!

I hope you get it all straightened out and the bike "will be better than it ever was been":D

I'm been kicking the idea around in my head about getting a Indian.

What type of Indian I don't have a clue.

You only have two choices...dot or feather!:whitstling::laugh::roll:

Well, once again we have the before picture

Dropped the pan today and found only a smattering of debris. Basically pieces of gear teeth. From the way it sounded, I would have expected a lot more. That's all of it. The oil didn't have the glitter look. Hopefully I can get er' opened up the weekend for a full assessment.

Bugger mate that's not good...I found most of the shrapnel still stuck in the gears when mine shat itself

I'm sure I'll find more when I get er' cracked open. Not really mad at it anymore. Just a mechanical thing that broke. I don't like the idea of mixing new and 75,000 mile gears so I'm still thinking I'll buy an engine out of a wreck, and use the entire tranny. My money is still on a failed snap ring. That will piss me off if all this heartache is caused by the failure of a 10 cent part. If that turns out to be the problem, I'm definitely going to look into alternative snap rings. Perhaps something like this

I want to read up on what they use in super high powered drag bike transmissions.
