Sturgis???

Yankee and I are going. Riding from Atlanta and staying in Deadwood. I believe Steve Cowerd is planning on going again this year as well. We may try to meet up with him on the ride out if he goes. Someone should organize a meeting place for a ride when we are all out there.

Probably kind of late; but, I recently decided to ride to Sturgis for the rally.
If there is a Rocket meet up please let me know. Wouldn't mind meeting some of the boys from OZ as well.

Heading out eastbound for the rally from the Packwood Salvo early Sunday. Would be nice to see some other beasts out there . . .

My R3R is black; so, I expect to be passing some red ones out there on I-90 eastbound.;):D

Sturgis

Thousands of Harleys, so few Rockets. I only saw 3 during the adventure. Surprising number of Valkyries though

I was there yesterday, the 9th for a while. Also rode thru Spearfish Canyon. In the canyon someone was taking pictures and you can find them on www.sturgis.com

I didn't see any Triumphs while there but when looking thru the pictures looking for mine, I did see two Rockets. One black Roadster and an older Claret Rocket with the grey engine.

Might have been some of you guys. IMG6533 is the number on my pic. Looks like I didn't miss the other rockets by much.

Mate of mine got back from Sturgis on Saturday , been in the States for a month. Him and another mate hired a RV and went just about everywhere by the sound of it. Couldn't believe how many Harleys were at Sturgis , didn't realise the Motor Company had even made that many Harleys. Reckons heaps of bikes were trailed there and the some of the blokes that owned them were a joke. Done up to the nines with all the HD gear head to toe but ... rode up and down the main street with their feet dragging on the ground. He couldn't believe the sights he saw , chicks riding around topless , just cut-off jeans and sunnies riding their own baggers.. bet they made the foot draggers feel pretty macho :D

Most are trailered and most are a joke. Seems most of them park their trailer with in 75 miles and then ride in. I only live 140 miles away and I did ride mine in for a day. It's kinda scary sharing the road with that many amateaur riders.

Lots of beautiful places in that area to ride but I prefer doing so either before or after "Sturgis". Much safer.

Could be an opportunity for some enterprising kid to sell little bags of dead insects that these "purchased lifestyle" "riders" could stick on their head lights to look like they'd actually ridden there. Spray on road grime too. Bet some would do it.

Ever done the Snowy ride Richard? What's it like? Too many bikes?
