Well I believe your comment about "the determination to do so", is the key. There is no reason to do it if an easy alternative is provided. I didn't mean to turn Sonny's thread into a discussion on computer security, but rather just thought it amusing that Triumph thought it had the technical ability to "lock" an ECU. It appears that they just made it more difficult and unnecessary.
 
Just my 2 cnts.

With that kind of power and power setting options out of the box, I would be reluctant to modify it. Wait until others make such experiment. Some bikes do better than others with modifications unless they are done by a pro racing team and pockets are deep. We will all wait patiently for the reveal.
