Engine Vibration continues

The Rocket has returned from Triumph NZ.

Diagnosis:
The vibration is something Rocket III's do get as they clock up the Km's.

If this is the case why did they try to fix it by replacing the whole clutch kit.
The replacement of the whole clutch kit did fix the vibration for a short period, but the vibration did come back.

Why is it that other Rocket III Roadsters do not vibrate?

The Technician that tested it this time is the same one that road tested it in February 2014. At that time he said that there was definitely something wrong with it. It has exactly the same vibration now and he now says that it is a standard vibration that rockets get.

My question to him would be, "How long have you owned and have been riding Rocket III's?"
Heres another one, "When you first buy a Rocket III Roadster, why didn't you tell me that it would develop a vibration as the km's get higher?"

My 2011 Roadster had the same vibration.
They had it for 12 weeks trying to fix it. They had the whole bottom end out of it on the bench.
When I got it back the vibration was not there for a short time, but it came back.
So they gave me a good deal on a new Roadster which I road tested first.
It was smooth as, as a new bike should be. I did the deal with them.
The new Roadster started to vibrate not long after I had it for about a month.
I tried to ignore it but it got worse.
When I took it to the Triumph technician in February this year, it was just under 6 months old.

Does anyone know an Triumph email address in the UK that I can write to about my issue?
I don't want to give up on the Rocket, but I don't want to settle for a vibrating Rocket III Roadster either.

I think it's time to give up. You've had two outliers. Chances are there is something about your break in strategy, or some other issue that just indicates that you and the Rocket aren't meant to be partners.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out. Life's too short to keep putting up with, or fighting about, stuff like this. Let it go.

OR your just expecting it to have no vibration at all and thats not reality as the big Rockets do vibrate some as do most of the other bikes Ive had like the Suzuki HYABUSA they vibrate right where you want to cruise 60 to 80 mph and thats a little 1300cc 4cycl

Thanks for the comments/advice.

Or maybe the Roadster does have a fault.

There is a small Triumph Dealer here in NZ that have pulled apart a number of Rocket Roadsters with the same issue and have repaired them.
I just thought that Triumph NZ and their technicians would be familiar with the issue and fix it without any cost to me.
They have done a really good job trying to find the issue, but the end result does not fit with the original diagnosis.
I shall however continue my quest to get past the vibe.

This is a very old thread but I wondered if there has been any progress is knowing what causes and how to fix the vibration.

My Rocket has done 25500 km now, the vibration has not got any worse but is very annoying and I would love to get rid of it.

Hi All,

I have a 2010 Roadster with 30,000 kms and has always had a slight vibration that went away when pulling in the clutch lightly. I have noticed that the vibration is getting worse over time to the point that it is starting to get uncomfortable. It seems to me the entire clutch assembly just hangs out there on the end of the shaft. I am wondering if the bearing that supports it starts to wear and then the clutch "wobbles" causing the vibration. When the clutch lever is depressed it puts pressure on the entire assembly causing it to run true and stop vibrating. I am an auto mechanic but have never had the clutch apart to see if this is possible. Maybe someone who has seen it first hand can comment if this reasoning makes sense
I think its the clutch lifter assy spinning off center and out of balance so when you take the play out by pulling in the clutch lever you bring it back on center and back in balance its that simple as its spinning off center and has to cause some vibration even though it doesnt bother the V TWIN owners that say the rocket is soooo smooooth compared to what they ride

Yes to the above, and some Dealers, not knowing better, would take ALL the slack out of the clutch cable, to make it quieter. NOT a good thing

I am willing to bet that it would be the balance shaft is somewhat to blame for most of these situations. No balancing device is perfect at every speed it can run at, and it will go a bit jittery at certain speeds. With the vagueries of all the rotating mass in our bikes, and how they wear and all, the exact speed that a rocket engine may vibrate and what sort of tricks may temporarily damp it down will vary, but the jitter is going be there at the points where the balance shaft can resonate with the specific "tune" of your bike.

So is there a fix, many Rocket owners say their bikes are vibration free and as smooth as silk yet others report experiencing the vibration discribed here.
