Would she get on yours?

My wife will do a 10 mile ride for lunch or something, but she admitted she rode to humor me, it really isn't her thing, and that's fine, I understand it, I wouldn't enjoy riding on the back of a motorcycle myself
I rode on the back of a bike ONCE when I was young....er. It was a Kawasaki 650 ninja. ( also first bike I ever rode). The dude was a complete lunatic. He was passing double lane traffic on the gravel shoulder at a 100. He’d come up to a red light intersection, hop up onto the sidewalk, put the front tire against the signal light pole, and do a smoke show until the light turned green, leap of the curb in front of the first cars in line, and soft wheelie it. I think that instilled a sense of fear in me of not being in control. I won’t even fly, because I’m not in control. I totally get your wife’s hesitation.

Oh n he’s dead long time passed. Big shock right ?

I also was on the back of a motorcycle once, at about 20, my friend took it up to 120, mighty fast in the late 70s, I think it was a KZ1000, the big boy back ghen. Most uncomfortable I ever was in my life, because I wasn't in control. RIP Russ, he died about 10 years ago on his bike, car turned left in front of him, worst part is it took him a year and a half to die, in a nursing home, brain dead and missing a leg. His son rides, I stay in touch with him as best I can.
Another time he got everyone to come out of the bar to watch him do a wheelie, flipped it over backwards, lotta cheering and clapping for that stunt, lol.

Yeah ppl try to push me to do wheelies n smoke shows on my R3r. They have no idea that although the bike is unique, and perhaps “may” exemplify some sort of $ status? I had to sign away my husbandly rights to pass this with “ the boss”. And in no way in hell could afford repairs for a stupid stunt. 😏...Such is my privileged life eh .

I used to have an old fzr400 (a '92 I think because 93 came with only one headlight) that I got from a racer who had a motorcycle shop, where he use to go to japan (he was from Japanese origin), he fly to Japan, pick and buy second hand motorcycles, put them in a container and bring them back to Peru in the 90's.. and I remember I came back a few weeks after the purchase complaining about some hesitation on the engine... that was my only time riding as a passenger... no much difference from Torque's experience... that guy went kamikaze mode riding along the streets, zig zagging between the cars, doing stoppies, small wheelies, we went riding with no helmets. I was shedding tears the whole way just because of the wind and sand coming in the eyes at the acceleration. it was a frightening experience. and yes the bike was totally fine it was just me not pushing that bike enough (I used to ride that bike at 3-4k, when really that bike wake up and rode beautifully over 8k (and that exup exhaust sounded so sweet)... so yes, my wife ride with me from time to time (make it 2-3 times a year), I ride safe for her, but I understand that experience is not exactly fun for her. I would prefer her to ride her own motorcycle but she is not normally aware of her surroundings and what is happening around most times, so not my best candidate for a rider.

I've spent a fortune on improvements for pillion comfort over the years. This includes buying a completely different motorcycle on more than one occasion.
Unfortunately for me, my favorite bike just couldn't be done (MT-01). The GS is about the best compromise so far for the two of us. Probably why I'm on my third one.
