Uh oh,passenger heat BIG problem

I picked up my R3 last winter. If I had ridden it in summer, I am 99.9% sure I would be riding a Valkyrie right now. Got caught in heavy traffic yesterday. The heat off the 2.3 was intense. I actually had to pull out of traffic to get relief. Even the plastic side covers were too hot to touch. I've not experienced this level of heat from any other bike. Don't wish to offend anyone but this along with so many other things I have had to overlook for the sake of torque and uniqueness has me considering FOR SALE one Triumph Rocket III.

In summer any parts of the bike (or car for that matter) in direct sunshine soon become too hot to touch. Looks to me like you're running a screen. That will hold hot air and direct it back onto you. If you haven't removed it for summer, perhaps try that.

Really curious what the complaint is on the R3 for heat as far as the passenger is concerned? I feel zero heat source besides my headers, before that, the rocket was totally tame and comfortable as far as heat goes.
What my wife did mention was that there is nearly no airflow back there because of the big wall of me in front of her. I'm guess your blocking all her flow, something easily resolved be removal of the pillion pad.

Those CES do indeed heat things up quite a bit, especially at stops in traffic! :(
I had a leather leggin with a sewn in heat shield made for my right leg that works a charm!
The added heat from the CES is WELL WORTH the performance gain! :D

I know what you mean about the sun. Touch a car with bare skin here in Texas, instant 2nd degree burn. That's why I don't leave it parked in the sun. Thanks for the advice. All my bikes have had screens and I've never felt heat like this before. I think I try some of the suggestions I have read here and remove the screen.

But, have you EVER straddled a 140 cubic inch, three cylinder (each being over 750cc) before?

Get a Bushtec Tow Tow and let her ride in it:evil::roll::roll::roll:. I can not wait for Ginger to get a little older and trained to get in it. Has its own windscreen and bimini top of I choose to put it on.

Install an aftermarket Air Conditioning system (the pump will sap you of some hp though) or fit a side car to the left side (away from the heat), when riding don't position it too far into on coming traffic!
