Uh oh,passenger heat BIG problem

We have a Touring, and had my wife on for well over 1,000 miles. We are ATGATT, and maybe that makes a difference. I've had her say she's cold, or something's not sealing properly in the rain. Never had her complain about the heat.

If she is feeling heat on her legs have you wrapped the manifold? you can take the heat shields off wrap the manifold and exhaust pipe back to the mufflers( with one wrap and smallest overlap) this will keep heat in exhaust system. Pain in the ars but what ever makes Mamma happy keep you out of the chit. LOL. Better than removing seat or many other suggestions I read. If she feels heat from seat no idea. Just trying to help a Rocket family out.

If all else fails tell her what I was told by the old buzzard down at MODAK Cycles (old school Triumph shop) in Melbourne when I asked if she had long sleeved t-shirts for sale . She said and I quote " you're a Triumph rider, you're supposed to be tough" ;)

Really curious what the complaint is on the R3 for heat as far as the passenger is concerned? I feel zero heat source besides my headers, before that, the rocket was totally tame and comfortable as far as heat goes.

What my wife did mention was that there is nearly no airflow back there because of the big wall of me in front of her. I'm guess your blocking all her flow, something easily resolved be removal of the pillion pad.

Funny thing is our last bike was a Street Glide. She claims this is worse.Im not back there so I can't say. With highway pegs I am good, moves my legs away from the heat.Sucks because for me this is by far the most comfortable bike ever.
She is keeping an open mind.Lets see what happens.....Hope I'm not posting in the classifieds!

Yeah i know what you mean its always tough when you gotta sell the wife ................ Ohwell you will still have the Rocket:D

Getting rid of the cats and adding titanium exhaust wrap will make a big improvement.

Cats were gone when I bought my bike; but I did the wrap last month. It works.

A high performance coolant. It is suppose to dissipate the heat better which allows the engine to run cooler. Likewise after he breaks her in and decide to reflash the ECU a richer map will help the bike run cooler especially down in the lower ranges where the O2 sensor has leaned out the mixture for EPA type emission standards.

How could you talk about his wife like that:roll::D

They do run hot on the run in cycle. What Warp says - all of it not just my highlighted sections- is spot on. If she gets a hot arse buy her a corbin and she'll be as cool as a cucumber.

Hey guys the excitement of picking up the Rocket yesterday has turned into despair rather quickly. The wife is saying that the heat she feels riding behind me is completely overwhelming and that the bike is useless to her.Granted we are high 90's here in NC with a serious heat wave going on . Couple fellas suggested bead riders but wondering if anyone else has run into this and if so what if anything can be done?
Dealer said at the first service Engine Ice can be added to reduce engine temp a good bit.
Interested in any possible solutions.

Hi Vic. Don't know what part of NC yer in but around here it was hotter than a 2 dollar pistol by 10am. Me and two of the usual suspects hit the road at 5:30 am and were heading back to the barn by 10:30.

I can second (or third) that mine runs cooler after the reflash that I did about 3 months after I bought it. Getting rid of the cats will probably cool it down even more but it will be a couple of months before I can say that for certain.

I picked up my R3 last winter. If I had ridden it in summer, I am 99.9% sure I would be riding a Valkyrie right now. Got caught in heavy traffic yesterday. The heat off the 2.3 was intense. I actually had to pull out of traffic to get relief. Even the plastic side covers were too hot to touch. I've not experienced this level of heat from any other bike. Don't wish to offend anyone but this along with so many other things I have had to overlook for the sake of torque and uniqueness has me considering FOR SALE one Triumph Rocket III.
