Sturgis???

smart ............ I never thought of doing it in pre rally time would have been much more enjoyable those going to yellowstone choose the NE entrance via cook a very nice ride!!

What are the odds..I've been threw Yellowstone three times on the way to Sturgis. Each time i arrived at Old faithful it had just erupted and it takes 90 minutes before it erupts again. I've yet to see it close up:mad: ,we always seemed to be pressed for time. If your camping in that area make sure you sleeping bag is warm, and not one of those cheap ones at the army/navy store. It is 80 -90 degrees during the day and 32* at night.

Old Faithful Up Close! - YouTube enjoy..;)

I'll be there 7/28-8/05, but I'll be with my future in-laws and he probably has a minute by minute agenda planned, so I may not be available to meet up.

Unless you've been out there in one of those so-called rainstorms you can't get people to ''believe it'', it's more like somebody turned a fire hose lose it did not take me long to learn when you see one coming find a car wash or a service station with a super large canopy

Now you have a little Insight on why I don't like to ride in the rain ! :)

Medic, I will be there the same time. If you get a chance to break free let me know I would meet up with you. This is my third time out and I know the area pretty good so if you need any info let me know.

Not even the rain as much as the hail and lightening... Two years ago they had to plow deadwood due to 4 inchs of hail. I have tested the rocket many times running from rain... I will never forget the guy on the HD that was kind of blown away when I passed him like he was standing still on the highway. Got to the off ramp and he pulled up to me at the red light and was like 2 questions.. What is that thing?? How fast were you going?? My answer.. Rocket III and I have no clue... He loved it... LOL I beat the rain back to the cabin! Last year got stuck at a gas station during the lightening storm that killed a guy... Very scary stuff that you will not understand to you go through your first storm.

Be warned if you go out get off the road during the freak rain storms there are very few bridges to get under so be prepared to with rain gear! There is no rain that even compares to the walls of water that can hit you when riding out there. These storms are nothing to mess with. I have seen were freak wind gust take out one guy in a group and all the others are fine. I have been stuck out snowmobiling in blizzard conditions and was never as scared as trying to run to safety from these storms. They are extremely nasty!

Dealing with the freaky weather is so worth it thou. Some of the best riding I have ever done. The pics in the video do it no justice.

Yep it is a yearly trip. Nice place to stay is BlackHills State U in Spearfish for $367 per dorm room which allows two people. I like it because you are only 10 miles from the action, have State Police/campus police watching over the place 24 hours if it was ever needed, it is clean, you are in brick buildings, they provide bedding/towels, and the South Dakota people are always nice. Last year there were about 500 bikes there, and it is a 40 year plus group there. They have coffee on always, the kitchen is open for great breakfast, lunch, and dinner for $6.00.
Downsides are they are dorm rooms, and they do not have air conditioning. But if you open the room window as they say you get a 20 mph wind in the hills. It is college dorms not the Hilton Hotel so do not plan on much but a bed, internet, fan, towels, sheets, and quite sleeping. Also it does not have a night life. Like I said before it is a older mature biker client list so it is low key.
