Sturgis???

sturgis

been there and promised never to return!!

lots of cops speed limits enforced to a T waiting for everything drinks, foods, toilet etc ...imagine nearly 800 000 bikes in a tiny area if you did not reserve a place a year ago better camp in national forest park they seem to always have some tent space. otherwise the experience to be there is like nothing else in the world. BTW bring cash lots of it.

Yankee and I are going. Riding from Atlanta and staying in Deadwood. I believe Steve Cowerd is planning on going again this year as well. We may try to meet up with him on the ride out if he goes. Someone should organize a meeting place for a ride when we are all out there.

I am at the Deadwood KOA this year.. Up till Sunday the 5th moving to Yellowstone that day to do some riding in and around there..

If anyone is out pre-rally week and wants to hook up for a ride let me know.

If your out riding in the area look for the fully dressed Rocket III. Got a big old Triumph logo on the back of the tour pack this year... Can't miss me... :D

Typically you will see the bike parked at the Triumph trailer in Sturgis when I am roaming around downtown.. They are nice enough to let me park the bike there.

LOL knock on wood.. I have not had an issue with the cops... They did bust a guy that was riding my ass coming out of the chip year before last... I was leaving a concert and he was right on my tail the whole way out...He was almost on my rear tire the whole time out... Its not a long road out just about maybe less than half mile.. Dirt roads and rockets don't mix to good.. Top it off with just having an motorcycle accident a few weeks earlier that almost ended my riding career forever(hit by a car and totaled my rocket).. Ya I was taking it easy.. At the light the guy thought it would be fun to blast by me.. Ya well I knew dam well there were cops lining the street. They saw what he did and busted him about 50 feet after he hit the main road. Cops didn't look to pleased with him at all... Pre-rally is the time to be out there.. Everything is up and running and only about 1/3 or less of the people are there.. I am booking it out of there rally week this year to yellowstone to enjoy that area..

I am, (hireing a harley) - should be a lot of fun as it's my first time, going over with around 12 guys from Aus who are harley riders

What day are you getting to Strugis.. Would be great to meet a member from from the other end of the earth...

smart ............ I never thought of doing it in pre rally time would have been much more enjoyable those going to yellowstone choose the NE entrance via cook a very nice ride!!

Did Sturgis 2002 I stayed at the lone Star Grounds about 2 miles past Buffalo Chip I agree with going out a week early. Won't be as many rent a cops  When I left there I went across Big Horn Mountain and over to Wild Bill Cody Gun museum and then to Yellowstone enjoyed the trip remember to take some heavy clothing got snow on Big Horn and the next morning at the museum got up with snow on bikes up in the 70s with in a couple of hours weather goes to all extremes 90's in the Valley and the 30s on top of mountains. I really enjoyed the trip I wish I had taken more pictures.

I have seen 108 and down close to freezing in the same trip. The rain storms are a real trip.. Get under cover quick when one is coming...

Unless you've been out there in one of those so-called rainstorms you can't get people to ''believe it'', it's more like somebody turned a fire hose lose it did not take me long to learn when you see one coming find a car wash or a service station with a super large canopy
