Roadster 2-up and other questions from someone looking

I've never had a passenger complain on trips 350 miles or shorter. On longer trips I have an Airhawk cushion that seems to keep them happy.
I do a bit of camping and can say gravel isn't too bad as long as it's not too deep. But like Jim said, planting you foot firmly is important when stopping on an 800 pound bike.
Same here, my fiance is 120lbs and has to get off to stretch her legs and butt every hour or so. It was also a big improvement when I got her an Air hawk seat.

Rocket 3 was my first love and second bike. I got a deal on a HD that couldn't be passed up and rode it happily for 2 years and then saw my R3 in a shop and that was it, rode away that day. My only advice is, if the Rocket feels much different than any bike you ride, don't be discouraged, I had to get used to the upright, mid-controls after my apes and forwards. So, if you think you have the itch for the bike, scratch it when you can.

Welcome. I think you will find a lot of great input from this forum. I know I have. As far as two up, my wife loves the R3R, I did buy a Saddlemen gel pad and that has helped on longer ride. There is a one piece two up gel seat available for $300.00 at your Triumph dealer, I have not seen any reviews on that seat yet. As far as gravel/dirt roads. We have a place that has is about a mile and a half down a gravely/dirt road. Take it slow and steady and you are fine. BUT! My humble advice is this; if the dealer has a R3R at a price you are OK with. BY ALL MEANS BUY IT! You will not regret it. And you will find that the muscles in your face will be getting very sore due to the overwhelming amount of laughter and smiles the R3R will provide to you.

Also your back rest question. I have the factory back rest and luggage rack. The fit and finish is far better than after market and the back rest is wide and comfortable according to my wife. I hope this helps.

Same here, my wife finds the Triumph backrest/rack comfortable.

I did replace the stock seat and pillion with a used Corbin. She does fine on it, but does like to get off and stretch her legs from time to time.

Looks like you're already getting the answers, but just wanted to pipe up and say welcome from Mississippi! :)
I have the Corbin dual backrest model for two up and a solo saddle for the rest of the time. No advice on distance though as the dual only goes on when the kids (teenagers) want to ride, so it's usually a couple hours at most.

My wife likes the Classic touring seat with the Classic back rest pad on the tall sissy bar. That being said I leave her at home so I can ride a wee bit more crazed :D

Or do I tell her the other riders I am with ride like maniacs so she wants to stay home?

Hmmm I can't remember :)

That's some funny chit right there!

the back rest saves the person behind u.
so i would not crack the throttle with a passenger without the back rest:eek:
