Poll... Rear Tire Mileage

Replaced mine at less than 2k, but that was the nail that took that one (and the continuing for 800 more miles before I noticed it - luckily I was back home and at the dealer by then - cupped so bad it looked like knife edges at every groove). Went back with stock Metzler and now have almost 5k on the tire - still looks very good (and almost have the chicken strips burned off to the edge - stupid floorboard feelers...). Unless I hear of a miracle tire, I've had nothing but good luck with Metzlers on my other bikes so I'm standing pat.

Thats the funny thing about Metzlers ... they look fine just before the cord shows thru.

the two differences I have noticed in the tires made for the Rocket is the Meztler has thick side walls on it. the plus of this that I found was I picked something up on the highway which took 4 plugs to stop the leak but I was 5 miles from the nearest service station. With the side wall being so thick I was able to ride at 35 mph without the tire collapsing to the service station where a buddy met me with a plug kit. Now I carry a compressor and plug kit.

Now the Avon cobra I get a little mot mileage out of but if you get a flat the side walss are so thin that it sits right down on the rim which makes it hard to even steer the bike off the road.

I found what was advertised as a Z rated tire from a tire store which was advertised wrong. I found this out once I contacted the tire manufacturer. This could have been deadly as I have been running at speeds close to 200 mph. Moral of the story be very carefull in purchasing tires from dealerships as they might not have the right information advertised.

Rear tire

I got 11k on my rear, my son got 8k. I am about to finally replace front at over 13k.

How does it feel knowing that you fit right in with norm? Well .... normal for R3 owners anyway. lol

7500 mi on the rear, and it ain't looking too good, but there's a new set of Cobras on the porch ready to install. Yesterday we had around 64 degrees F, and Betsy and I logged about 150. I bet we won't see that temp again this side of Mayday, so I'll be making use of Flip's Black Rock on the saddle and harness and make a lateral move to the next seasons rides.

Funny, I just about hate snowmobiles, so I transfer to the skis or ponies.

rear tire milage

i only get about 2k miles out of mine. thats just from everyday riding. no burn outs. has any one put a drag radial on their rocket?

Same problem here even with a CT. My theory is it is happening when you roll the throttle in lower gears. Even if you don't "burn out" the tire is breaking loose from the massive torque in second or possibly third. Ain't it great!

Bought the Bike from Dennis with 8500 miles , Put another 1500 ( metz 880's) then needed to change them. Bald as a babys ..... well you get the hint

Now it is unfair fight , car tire on the back and back tire on the front, 7000 mile and both look great !
