Anyone still interested in this, I had to have the rear replaced at about 5K. Just went over 10K and it needs replacing again. Front is still good. Glad the factory is doing the recall on these things.

I just replaced a Mezzler with a YOKO 245 darkside. The speedo showed it had "turned" just a little over 2000 miles. In all fairness, I can't say it actually "went" 2000 miles. Admittedly, a lot of it went up in smoke.

Replaced first rear tire at 8,000 miles, second at 16,000 miles, third at 24,000 miles, and now have over 32,000 miles. Fourth tire seems to be lasting a little longer. Replace the front tires about every 12000 miles. Like the Metzler's though.

Just toasted mine... Picked up a nail and had a flat... the tire had more than 11k on it.. it was the original rear tire from april 2007. Just learned how much fun it is for a girl on an 850 lbs bronco trying to ride it down to a stop from a rather, shall we say, high rate of speed.... eeeekkkkKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!! from full to flat in about as much time as it took to get from 0 to 80....

Up where you live, there is probably a goodly amount of crap on the roads. I remember crossing the GW and seeing abandoned cars on the berm, stripped out and waiting for what I haven't a clue.

it's not so bad anymore... that was probably the 70's and early 80's...
.... but with all the services cuts including police.. these sights might come back.

Just over 8000

Checked the tire at 7996 before a little trip. Got back at 8237 and about a 1/4" of tire cord was showing through. Huge wanker strips!

Never burned out, many hard launches. Ya know about 1/2 of those miles came from RAAIII and IV! Tons of fun.

All in all I am ok with the Metz. Baxter's will replace with a Metz for $300 out the door. I will check with a local bike shop about an Avon.

I know I am a perfect canidate for a darkside (straight roads no twisties), but if I go up in a blaze of glory it would stink if that was the reason my bride and kids would miss out on the loot!

Would like to see an update on the Avon Cobras and mileage improvements if any.
