Ideally keeping the speed up* to avoid rad kicking on - not much can do about that if in stop n go traffic, other than careful route planning regarding time to avoid the congested periods
* Double whammy - idle or low speed produces less current and of course low road speed means no air flowing through radiator and fan kicking on.
selecting a lower gear will help the former (assuming it IS actually moving at all) but of course not much can do about the latter.

i suggested he buy an extra battery just in case.
with towing the trailer i assume it will be on
but if just after the rush hour in the morning might be ok.

I had sent Mike the test process already but he is a 30-year HD Master Mechanic so I will trust he did the procedure correctly.

I will try to time my passing through Phoenix between 1-4pm and take the 101 bypass loop.

I’ll have my 12V battery on top of my trailer with cables ready to go should I need to stop for traffic to ease up.

I’ll order the parts tonight once I’m sure the bike is running and get back to camp.

Keven said that he can send the necessary tools to borrow overnight.

yeah just let me know where to send, im taking it not to mikes shop so i pulled back off shipping there and will hold until i hear definite where to send. I have the rotor tool and i have engine collar tools. Holding until i get address and to definitely ship.

I was 90% sure I was headed your way last night Herman but woke up and saw the light (other than the bright sun shining on my camper) and it’s a done deal after considering the risk/reward.

I’m walking back to Mikes soon and hopefully they have my bike ready to go.

Another determining factor was that I offered to provide the manual and pictures on a USB thumb drive/ memory stick and they said they didn’t know how to transfer files to a PC or laptop.

I am sorry that I don't live closer.

I have a spare stater that was removed at the dealership two years ago said it looked bad. Even have spare indicators too. Will find photo and post later. @Rocket Scientist posted pictures of his that he put back in his bike.

weather in tucson 1-4 will be 98 degress. about 8 degress higher in phoenix,
estimate driving 2 1/2 hours to phoenix
phoenix to tucson across town another 2 1/2 hours.
i would suggest u leave around 7 and avoid the heat that would put u into phoenix about 9:30
when u come down off that mountain it like coming into hell i get depressed.
