I'm dreaming of an 8 gallon tank...

I like the idea of a bigger tank that looks stock for my own rig. My normal long runs from my place in VA to my uncle's in TN is a ten hour blast via interstate super slab. There are many stretches that I do not need to stretch my legs or hit the head, but Brahma needs a drink so off the highway I go to refuel. With an extra 2 gallons, I am sure I could cut at least one fuel stop if not more on this trip.
@aviation1972 if you find a fabricator that does a good job, I may be interested in one for my R3T as well.

Coyote Gear Fuel Tanks These people make fuel tanks of various sizes you could strap to your bike somewhere. Lots of riders with puny tanks use them. Our problem is fuel injection though. Our fuel pumps are high pressure, and they don't suck well. You have a to have a low pressure high volume pump to deliver fuel from the remote tank to the EFI pump, along with a return line. On Intruders, which have a regular fuel pump, it's possible to change the fuel hookups so that the reserve position actually draws from the remote tank Or you can use a secondary fuel valve to cut in the remote tank when you are ready for reserve, but actually stay on the main circuit pulling from the remote tank and your reserve is preserved.

These are the ones I've been looking at in addition to a small 12v fuel pump rigged to a toggle switch

Tour Tank Motorcycle Auxiliary Fuel Tanks
I like the way they look. My concern would be loosing my rack to it. However, Loading the side bags and pillion seat would probably still work okay. I wouldn't use it when riding with Pretty Pillion as her bum is not an iron type.

I would opt for their recommendation for fuel injected bikes I think and that is out of my personal skill set:

"Fuel injected bikes are best served by taking your main tank to a pro weld shop
and have them weld a 1/4NPT threaded bung in the bottom of your tank. Then
thread in a brass fitting into the bung and hook the Tour Tank fuel line to that
fitting. The Tour Tank gas will go into the main tank and use the factory fuel
pump."

I ahve seen these types at half that cost in several bike stores. That price is silly.

Interesting.... I just did a Google search for them & that is actually a good price for that particular brand (BAM brand)
If there are some at bike shops that guarantee not to leak, at a better price, I would certainly be interested in one as the price of the BAM bottle is why I haven't bought one yet ;)
