How much to spend on a helmet.

One word of caution on the Sharks...I have a Shark Evoline III that is a pretty good choice when I wear full face. Last year in Maggie Valley I was leaving the Triumph shop behind several other bikes and I hadn't dropped the chin bar. As I was coming up behind the other bikes I flipped the chin bar down and the d@mned thing got caught on the visor half way down with the chin bar in front of my eyes...not good. By the time I got it cleared the bikes in front of me had stopped. OH $HIT!!! Emergency stop which scared the puddin out of Nurse Ratchet. Best advice...drop the chin bar before you take off.

Gotta love a helmet that is scientifically designed to add fun. And for the princely sum of $37.

I have been pretty pleased with the Bell Mag 9 - Reasonably priced.
After about 5K miles, the fit is still a tad too tight. I like the Scala communicator and can hear it well, even at high speed. Being an open face, the talking aspect . . . not so much. I also have grown to like and use the drop down sun visor. I don't use the clear face shield.

I Just paid $750 for a Shoei GT-AIR, used it for the first time on Sunday - A bit tight at first but very quiet and light.
Apparently wind tunnel tested......

What!

Revzilla has them for $494.99.... you might can find them even cheaper.

Mully,
I just spent some time researching the newer version RF-1200 Shoei and was very impressed.
IF I decide to try a full face helmet, for additional safety, pretty sure this would be the puppy!
Thanks for the tip.

We get raped in Oz when buying good stuff. Also if you're helmet does not have the Australian Design Rule sticker on it - well you are not allowed to use it. Gubment fleasing at it's best.

Your welcome. I'm in the market for a quieter helmet and the 1200 supposed to be pretty quiet. I talked to a avid rider and he said cheapy HJC helmets are the quietest he has ever worn. ??

Oh I didn't know that. I wouldn't be able to afford anything over there then. lol
