Heated gloves instead of heated grips?

So let me get this straight, moose paws are dangerous, Hipohands are nearly 5 times the price but are they any good

I've never tried the moose hands but for the HippoHands, they hold up to 85MPH wind pretty good and I do not have any issues putting my hand back inside if I take it out for any reason. And Like I said earlier, they are great down to 20F (-7C) Below that I need the heated glove and the combo works down to 0F (-18C).

Now that I watched the video on the heated over wraps, I think Brahma is getting some new ear muffs soon.

Get both.

Just don't get the Triumph heated grips, they're crap. I have them, so I would know. So far no failure, but I don't trust them at all.

But heated grips are great for cool days when you just need a little bit extra heat to make sure your hands don't chill, just flip the switch. The gloves are for longer runs - they heat the upper side of the hand, which is great, but you do have to deal with the hassle of wiring.

There's also these: Barkbusters Blizzard Review - webBikeWorld

I have both the 12 volt gloves and the battery type. The battery type are great for mild conditions where you don,t need them for hrs at a time and the 12 volt ones are for those very cold days when your going a long ways. I also have the triumph heated grips but stopped using them when my throttle cable broke and it looked like the grease they used had baked on the metal end of the cable causing it to bind up which lead to the cable failure. I clean it up and put in the new cable and have put 10 k miles on since with no problems but then I haven't used the heated part either. Heated gloves are the way to go!

Hippo Hands were out of business, and now I see someone has continued with the name and perhaps improved product.

Moose Paws are available.

I was very interested to read this thread because I'm in the market for additional hand protection. On the Rocket Roadster I am using Oxford heated grips:
Heaterz Premium Cruiser - Heated Grips
(which are very good), combined with these translucent gray guards (which are stylish, and great as stone/bug deflectors, but don't provide full wind protection for winter use):

Today I decided to make a purchase, so checked out manufacturer websites, also RevZilla, eBay etc and all the customer reviews of Hippo Hands, Moose Paws, Oxford and other products offered as ATV and snowmobile muffs that I could find. Based on that, I decided on Hippo Hands since they seemed to offer the most protection. This morning I exchanged emails with Hippo Hands customer service (who were very responsive - I was impressed!) and ordered a pair of "Pacific Coast" based on their recommendation. A couple of hours later I received an email to say they have shipped, which impressed me again. The Pacific Coast model is designed for bikes with swept-back handlebars. They will be installed in combination with the WindBusters, to prevent wind pressure from pushing the Hippo Hands against the handlebar levers. This is something Hippo Hands warns about on their website. I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Hi everyone, I have done a couple of trips with the Hippo Hands, with very good results. A very solid product. I must apologize to all for keeping you in suspense! I didn't post my comments in this thread, but in a different one. See post #20 at the bottom of page 2, with pictures included:

Dangerous indeed, because they close and flop in the wind after hand removable when riding.
A riding partner of mine has the Hipo Hands and they maintain shape while riding and allow easy re- entry for hand(s).

I would suggest checking out "Sealskinz" and/or "Aerostitch Triple Digit".
