GI Pro Gear Indicator

Just been looking at the GIPRO over here in UK. I copy their statement and ask if anyone can give explanation, which one are you guys using & what is ATRE, is it this feature which disables the speed limiter. The installation sounds a lot easier than you chaps seem to be experiencing.

"Due to high demand for our GIpro, we have developed the DS-Series, which is compatible with more motorcycles than the original GIpro. (Note: The GIpro/ATRE will not be discontinued as the DS-Series does not have ATRE" feature)
"The GIpro-DS works on a different principle than competitive products on the market. It reads the gear position information directly from the ECU, which makes it faster and more reliable than other gear indicators sold today. There are no buttons, no “programming wires”. The unit is fully automatic. There’s no need to cut and splice wires, and no need to access several connectors. You need to connect ONE plug only under the seat – it can’t get any easier than this!"

Yes we are using the one with the ATRE which does require several connectors and isn't quite plug and play!

Phil,
did you get it (the right thread) and figured out?
My write up is in the thread titled "installsd GiPro on my new"
on page 1 towards the bottom.

If you're asking me, Skip, I will not get my GI unit for about another 2 weeks or so. I'm not too concerned with the install as there's plenty of good info here and over on the .com site about al of the nuances and trevails. Basically I have been feigning fear, loathing and ignorance on the subject in order to elicit others to share the how to's and make the install more understandable for all the guys who jumped on the group buy.

If I have any issues when i go to install mine, I am certainly not above calling out for a life preserver!;)

Yea, it's really a piece of cake.
The hardest part was getting the one pin out of the female half of the plug.
That and getting the plugs out far enough to work on them to begin with.
Take care buddy,

Surging

Installed my GI Pro last night. It really makes a difference in acceleration.
I have an '08 R3T and I notice a "surging", almost like a miss, when riding at slower speeds/partial throttle.
I had it on setting 3. I just changed it to setting 4 and it feels a little better.
Anyone else notice this?

I'll Let You Know

I still haven't installed my Gi Pro yet and I believe I was in the first round of the group buy. Some of it is procrastination, but the main reason is an old Jeep Cherokee I picked up as a grocery getter for the Wife to drive during the inclement weather. It had been sitting for about five years and getting it road worthy has had the SAE wrenches going full force in my free time. I am hoping to do the Gi Pro this weekend since snow is in the forecast again. I am going to try to mount my unit on the handlebars and I ordered the watch mounting clamp below from J&P. It may take a little fabrication of a back plate, but if I can't get it to work I have wasted $19.00 before and it will go in the may use at a later time part box. One further bit of info. I had an old out dated O2 bypass sensor that has pins in the female end. Upon experimenting with different tools I have found a small jewelers screwdriver will free them every time.

I've had that at VERY slow speeds even without the GIPro.

Put mine on yesterday. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!! Second gear feels like first gear did before the install. First gear throttle response is instantaneous.
Now it is :D:...........:D all the way down the street! Hard to tell if the :D is from enjoyment or G forces on my cheeks.

This has been by far the most bang for the buck on all mods so far.

It's amazing to think all that was there the whole time ... and that Triumph tuned it out on purpose.
