GEARFOX BUCKED!

Warranty issues, sure, totally normal. Seeing the EXACT same diagnosis from vehicle after vehicle after vehicle, that's not normal, or acceptable.

CARPENTER works on a lot of Sport bikes and they all have issues of course and they are abused as are the Rockets so there arent any vehicals that are unbreakable and judging by the wild stories of streetracing ,roadracing towing frickin trailers ,with car tires on the rear and crashes for all sorts of reasons its obvious the bikes get HAMMERED SO Im not surprised even though my bikes havnt had those problems even with the modded engine with double the normal HP

You see though, of the 5 bikes I can think of in the last year that have posted their stories here with bent shift forks and worn dogs, NONE were dark side and NONE were making big power.

Street racing is more forgiving than track. The street doesn't hook like the track and instead of massive trans loading, you get tire spin.

NONE of the breakages are from power, ALL of them are from missassembly causing the bike to kick out of gear because the fork didn't push the gear all the way in so the dogs only partially engaged and eventually that work the dogs down.

Every single one showed these symptoms. In my case a whole spacer was MISSING inside my transmission. That has nothing to do with anything besides Triumph fing up when assembling the bike.

You can try and shift blame to the rider all you want, fact is, these late model roadsters are not being assembled with the same level of care they used to be.

WELL sure if the BOZOS are going to leave parts out WOW NOW thats crazy weve been beating the snot out of the modded bikes and they are very TUFF even with as much as 500HP so maybe its sloppy assembly and I think miss ****s are the cause of the rounded DOGS NO excuse for missing parts thats insane I have a 2012 ROADSTER and the trans is excellent and its over 250 HP so I cant complain about my bikes BUT I did watch a crazy friend miss a gear on his modded ROCKET and he FRICKED up the shift dogs right in front of me BUT that was his fault SO you can break them the ones weve seen all had rounded dogs

34 years since I first rode a bike aggressively, 15 different bikes from various manufacturers, some high HP some with 100's of Km's of track day thrashing and the best part of 1mil Km's in total ... only one blown gearbox ...

The ability for the boxes to handle the high power in most cases is why the whole thing frustrates me so much. Triumph designed a box that can take huge loads straight from the factory, but on occasion are failing to build it right.

Just frustrating knowing human error, be it mis assembly or super sloppy riding is costing people frustration, time, and in some non warranty cases a lot of money.

On the up side, they've honored every single one I've heard of so far as a warranty repair, so good on them for that!!

my last explorer engine kill was only done because it was still under the time frame of the warranty ????

My gearbox went two years after the warranty ran out and Triumph still stood by me and did the update kit. That was nine years ago and no problems since.

I missed a gear once pretty bad, ground it good, only once, but I figured that was what did mine, but Carpenter said no, the circlip coming out did it, that's a factory assembly issue.
