First ride with triple K&Ns

If one chose the small ones and does not cut the bear claw, will the engine breathe better than the stock set up. The stock set up is sucking cool air behind and under the seat.

In a word: YES - I put on the RamAir filter & did not cut the claw - Filter not exposed but experiencing the same euphoria as BigBrotherNorm! (with Tors & no Cat)

Mine vents to the stock air box. I taped the hole the stock plenum was hose clamped to.

I used the K&N 2780 filters and it runs much better than stock. I also removed the secondaries which made a huge difference in throttle response. Its an easy mod with great results.

Can the RamAir mod be installed leaving all the stock intake ducts in place? Some claim that it attracts moisture.
I guess the guy rides in the rain a lot? It would be nice to have the option to return the bike to stock easily anyway.

BTW, will a 12 minute tune be enough for the bike to reset back and forth? I'm trying to see the stock intake causing airflow resistance in regular operating conditions. What sold it to me was a video with the sound of the intake from the driver seat. For the price of a meal, can't beat it.

Rick, to me, one of the great benefits of the RamAir/K&N swap is getting the orig. intake plumbing out of the d@mn way.
No the 12 minute tune will not do it - it needs an ECU tune for richer tables with the aftermarket intake filters. After a new tune you also need to run a TPS/ISCV test & reset parameters.

Hi, sorry to hijack the thread but it seems you might be able to help. Just fitted the ramair to my bike (2007 standard with TORS and cat delete), i've used tuneecu and tried several maps before the ramair but does anyone have a tune that's suitable, presume the same tune will work for the K&N's as the ramair.
