Triumph Roadster 2010
The wife and i went out with some friends for a ride and the bike decided not to start for the trip home , Turn key no lights but blinkers and brake light worked . We tried everything riggled wires pulled fuses slapped it kicked it cursed at it and threatened to trade it in on a Harley but no go . The worst was having to ring a mate to come with a trailer who rides a Harley he was kind and didn't take the p1ss to much lol

Thanks to TC and Pete Gothlander for trying to help over the phone , what made it worse was every tool trying to help fix it they all have no idea but funny listening to them with their opinions . so its off to the stealers tomorrow and i hope the can fix it under warranty fingers crossed . I will keep you posted what happens .:mad::mad::(

As I said mate .. the black art of motorcycle electrics is usually best left to those in the know .. I have discovered over the years. Sure in a day or two this will be sorted.

Ignition switches are a pain in the ass, good luck.

Thanks Guys at least now over a beer i can laugh about it , but this stuff can happen to anyone .Could have been worse we could have been up in the hills somewhere and be stuck sleeping beside the bike , might look into roadside service now i think ?

had once the rectifier (just above the starter) dying while in the boondocks north of phoenix, nothing I tried made any difference had to get a trailer from phoenix"s bike shop to haul the beast and get it fixed waste of money and time for sure!! so I understand the word frustration..

It would seem like motorcycles would be at least as reliable as cars. Cars are more complicated by don't seem to have as many problems. Some people report little to no repairs on some Honda Shadow type bikes and some Yamaha's that I know of. I have thought about what to do if I had a breakdown in the boonies. I carry my cell phone and a list of companies that can pick up motorcycles. My wife can't drive my truck that has the trailer attached. Back when I had Honda's, you could call the service department and they would pick it up for $50 but the nearest Triumph dealer is 45 miles from me. Don't you hate it when my 05 is still going and your new roadster breaks down?

Wow .. never head off on a ride and wonder how i'm going to get home if my Rocket breaks down..guess after 110,000klms of getting me there and back it's little wonder.
Hope you're up to date on your karma mate .. or I know who's '05 models going to start pissin around

Just had my first call from Peter Stevens Dandenong , The ignition has craped itself only $490 to fix and i will need to carry 2 keys because the new barrel will be different. I very quickly informed him this should be under warranty and that it is a very known fault and nothing i have done has caused a premature failure of the part . After all the bike was purchased september 2012 and has only 5000km on it hardley run in let alone worn out . So he has gone away to chase Triumph Australia who own Peter stevens MC who have a Monopoly on Triumph in Melbourne I can see this turning ugly .:mad::mad:

There is a roadster in Tassie with over 400,000 klms on it now and never touched (other than servicing) so you still have a while to go yet TC. He is trying to get 1 million klms out of it and the way he is going I reckon he just might get there
