Dead roadster today

Just had my first call from Peter Stevens Dandenong , The ignition has craped itself only $490 to fix and i will need to carry 2 keys because the new barrel will be different. I very quickly informed him this should be under warranty and that it is a very known fault and nothing i have done has caused a premature failure of the part . After all the bike was purchased september 2012 and has only 5000km on it hardley run in let alone worn out . So he has gone away to chase Triumph Australia who own Peter stevens MC who have a Monopoly on Triumph in Melbourne I can see this turning ugly .

I am sure they will come through for you, they really don't have a choice

I think i would pay this before a pay Triumph for their crap ignition .

Wow .. never head off on a ride and wonder how i'm going to get home if my Rocket breaks down..guess after 110,000klms of getting me there and back it's little wonder.

Sorry to hear of your ignition troubles. If you haven't already, you really should install the Eastern Beaver kit.

Dave once you have your new ignition switch give me a yell if you want me to make you a Headlight relay harness to bypass the the heavy power load around your ignition switch

thanks mate i have one of the Beaver kits and will be installing it first thing when i get the bike back . I have also got some black custom headlights i will fit at the same time , so after this event i should have better lights and a better ignition .

Just rang the shop all going to be fixed under warranty should be done for tomorrow , then i will fit the beaver kit to lights .

Good plan. I did my own headlight relay kit, and put LED's in place of the stock headlights to reduce the load. Next step is to put an RFID ignition system on to completely bypass the stock ignition. Will still leave the key active of course in case the RFID unit goes tits up but this should be the last bandaid to fix the $hitty ignition circuit design.

Hey this RFID thingy looks pretty sweet! Thanks for the link, Amigo.

I can't even guess how many times I have saddled up all ready to go and then realizing the **** key was still in my jeans pocket.
Or worse - I walk off and forget the key in the ignition.

Anybody know of some down side to one of these?

I'd be pushing for the tank and seat lock to be replaced too. Why should you have to carry 2 keys when it is a warranty job?
