Ok so we have the superior black engine (that is on my R3T too) and the inferior silver... has anyone chromed the whole ****ed thing yet? ;)

I beg to differ the 2 exhausts have more weight than the older 3 ones, has to cost more...
I agree
You guys have no idea what you are talking about, silver engines are highly collectible since there are not very many of them:D
Also painted motors look very tired and cheap with age in my opinion. My 04 has 50,000 on it 43,000 in last 3 yrs since Ive owned it trouble free still looks classy.. (Biased I know, that s what personal taste is) but all r3 s are brilliant, best bike in the last 26 bikes Ive owned over the 33 yrs of licenced rd riding.(17yrs-50yrs) Admittedly mainly Harleys and triumphs. Black or alloy I'm in.

Love the look of the silver motors with black tins .. prefer the black engine Rockets with 'other coloured' tins. Having said that mines been black/black until recently .. i really find nearly all Rockets beautiful machines.

I recall that the 2007 Tourer - ie the Classic with screen, bags, sissy bar - also had a silver engine. Triumph's way of getting rid of left over motors by sweetening the package. I'm not sure if these had the same issues as the earlier silver engines or had been "upgraded".

Beautiful black engine on the faster red bike, Oh and a Dobeck Performance AFR Plus might have something to do with that too.
