What's your preference - GT or R

According to the configurator, a GT with mid controls costs $186 less than an R with GT bars, screen, touring seats, and backrest. I would pay the extra $186 for the red.

I rode the red 'R'...loved it...but found the bars too far forward for me.
Ordered a Black GT...ordered the mid pegs....bike should be in my shed middle of may/june.
Pegs are on back order.....woop woop!!

R for me, prefer the more focused riding position with the pegs further back.

That said, I haven't sat on either of them because if I do, I am going to need one or the other.

You can! They sell the seat, the parts to change the foot positions, the backrest, the whole thing. It'll cost you but you can do it.

You can make a GT into an R and an R into a GT. Not sure about the windscreen but that's about it.

Before 2020, they only did a R3Roadster and R3Touring with a R3X for the 10 year anniversary and now they have a R3Roadster and a R3GT (Grand Tourer). What indications do you have that Triumph is doing an R3T version of the bike? Your post is the first mention I have heard.

Going on probably only. Triumph would miss out on a big group of customers if they don't offer a real touring bike like the R3T. My dealer believes they will in the next year or two. That's all.

I take offence to the statement of "real touring bike". Do you mean "bagger"? Those heavy collections of pleather, massive windshields, and a barcalounger for a seat with a spot for the Mrs? In which case, I wouldn't hold your breath.

I personally don't think they care about missing any segment of customers. HD riders / owners are all ready sold on that brand predominantly while the rare migration happens. In fact, Triumph IS targeting a new segment. Those that don't want a Ducati but want a performance muscle cruiser!

I would offer, ride one; then get back to us. Lighter, more nimble, faster, a great many improvements over the old ones. You can always add some luggage racks to the back!

There is a reason there are so many choices for bikes. There are some that like to travel and dont want to compromise. The only reason I owned a harley was because at the time it was the best deal from all the "baggers" I dont believe there is a perfect bike. There is give and take with all of them. So this may not be the bike for those wanting to munch the mile in comfort and stay gone for days at a time.
