I will most likely get the GT but I don't 'love' the current colors. The black is pretty basic but doable. I don't know.....I'm breaking down and may do it soon. I wish I knew what color schemes 2021 has so I could make up my mind faster. Throw some red or blue in that black Triumph!

I take offence to the statement of "real touring bike". Do you mean "bagger"? Those heavy collections of pleather, massive windshields, and a barcalounger for a seat with a spot for the Mrs? In which case, I wouldn't hold your breath.

I personally don't think they care about missing any segment of customers. HD riders / owners are all ready sold on that brand predominantly while the rare migration happens. In fact, Triumph IS targeting a new segment. Those that don't want a Ducati but want a performance muscle cruiser!

I would offer, ride one; then get back to us. Lighter, more nimble, faster, a great many improvements over the old ones. You can always add some luggage racks to the back!
I did not know you were so easily offended Puppy. Me being a new guy here, I'll choose my words better next time and try not to be so insensitive.

I said I take offence, not that I was offended. There's a difference. If you said I was stupid for buying a GT rather than waiting for an imaginary bike to magically appear out of sheer will, then I would be offended. Taking offence would suggest that you are inferring that the GT is NOT a touring bike. To which I sought to clarify.

Seems I struck a chord by inferring that you want a bagger for the barcalounger seat for you and the Mrs. by resorting to name calling. If I offended you, then please grow a pair. Thanks.

My GT moves my old, fat ass around in more comfort than the R would've. I'm 6'2" and 280lbs, pegs all the way forward. With a tail bag and tank bag, overnight trips are not only comfortable, but thrilling. My pannier mount kits are on backorder.

@technoguppy maybe this is a case of two countries separated by a common language. And maybe our conversation is losing something on this medium that an in person conversation would rectify. Therefore, on the occasion we ever meet in the flesh, I will buy the first round. I do try to perpetuate brotherly love here and elsewhere and see we are headed in the wrong direction. If you are amicable with this olive branch, I am too. Back to you brother.

All good! Thanks.

I’ve known guys that tour on 600 sport bikes and I’ve known guys won’t ride over 100 miles without all the bells and whistles. Bottom line is two wheels is two wheels I’ll ride with anyone...

I need a certain amount of comfort with a bad back and all. My last Rocket Classic had swept back bars, foot boards, and a rider backrest. Very comfortable. But I replaced it with a T120 and now I’m used to a more forward riding position. The rearward pegs on the R work well for me. I could also put GT bars on the R but apparently Roxx 2” risers would also do the trick. Everything is interchangeable on these bikes except the color.

Could always get it painted

I’m on the verge of pulling the trigger on a GT. Much more comfortable riding position over the R for my 6’6” frame. I do like the red on the R the best though.
