Yes, I know idle airflow far exceeds cranking air flow thus leaving very little if any air flow restriction during a compression test. But: Now I don't have to argue with those that remain firm in their belief that compression test == WOT

BTW: My initial naive idea of a budget DIY turbo conversion is definately and thoroughly proven wrong - or debunked 😬

Giving the splines their first molbyden change while waiting for pistons and cams to arrive. Nothing alarming, much dry lubricant still there. Splines were prestine.

I went out of my way to avoid pulling the studs and taped together a mix of a flex joint, extender and an impact gun.
Not pretty, but sure loosened nuts only.

hey guy you need to clean up that spline on the driveshaft and take another look at it looks like it is wore out
especially for turbo
I have cleaned of course. Waiting for the solvent to evaporate before applying the molbyden paste. I guess the picture lies as the splines are OK. Which should be no surprise considering only 38.000 km very gentle mileage.

I'm afraid you were spot on on the wear, could you take a look at the cleaner version below? I'm just in disbelief..If worn down, how is it even possible to wear out the drive shaft splines in 38.000 km? It's been

"jerky" if you don't know how to ride it since I bought it from the previous owner, but he had put only 13.000 kms on it.

I am guessing that it is worn about 50% on a regular rocket i would say lube it up i don't think it will wear much if you lube every tire change.
on a turbo i don't know of coarse you will have a rev limiter so there is no way you will blow the motor.
what i know about those final drive/shafts
the early one has a grove around the spline collar on the final drive and the driveshaft is smaller
the later is bigger final drive and driveshaft and i do not know the years they changed my 07 is a small one.
i have heard of them stripping but that is with a lot of miles w/o lube.
i hope this info helps it will be a hard decision for you.
