I am guessing that it is worn about 50% on a regular rocket i would say lube it up i don't think it will wear much if you lube every tire change.
on a turbo i don't know of coarse you will have a rev limiter so there is no way you will blow the motor.
what i know about those final drive/shafts
the early one has a grove around the spline collar on the final drive and the driveshaft is smaller
the later is bigger final drive and driveshaft and i do not know the years they changed my 07 is a small one.
i have heard of them stripping but that is with a lot of miles w/o lube.
i hope this info helps it will be a hard decision for you.

Not a hard decision though. I do not want to end up having to source a new final drive.. Ordered a new driveshaft + the special OEM socket to loosen the swing arm nut, new wheel rubber cushings and wheel internal o-rings.

New driveshaft and auxillaries arrived.

After applying generous amounts of Honda OEM M77 molbyden on the splines, I braced myself to my first attempt at mating the final drive and the shaft.
I picked up a tip earlier somewhere in this forum using a piece of plastic and a string.
This is my hi-tech nterpretasjon

I positioned the plastic piece under the shaft using a screwdriver positioning the shaft in center

And as the bride said, it slid straight in!
I pulled out the piece of plastic using the rope before closing the gap between the swing arm and the bevel box.
This represents another rare occation where things were much more difficult in my head than in practice.
Rear suspension: Job done!

I'd save that old driveshaft. Never know when it might come in handy for one of the gang. I agree with Turbo regarding the amount of wear on the splines. Probably good to go for a stock Rocket. I'm surprised you were still able to purchase a new one???

That is because all the half worn out ones are still sitting undiscovered on the Rockets they were fitted to when new. ;) :whitstling::rolleyes:

Possibly even mine :roll::roll:

Yes, probably old stock. Short lead time and not too pricy either. I guess Triumph are obliged to serve Roadster aftermarket another 3 years though. Was worried I had to upgrade to Roadster transmission. That would have been painful for the piggy bank.
