Triumph Quit Ignoring Your Ignition Problems

The R3T has only one headlight so there is not as much current running through the ignition switch - leading to the failure. The EB kit could not hurt and may save a lot of trouble. It could even make your headlight brighter because it gets all the power it needs - with no loss through the ignition.

It seems to me after reading thru all these posts that the problem with the ignition switch no longer happens after the 2009 model year for the Touring.
Anyone with a R3T 2009 or later that has had a problem?
Looks like Triumph fixed it in late 2009 .

If they fixed they need to have another go! Mine has just gone - 2011 R3T with16,000 miles on it. 4 months out of warranty but dealer is going to argue case for a goodwill fix.

And So He Should, Triumph should never have wired the Lights the way they did:rolleyes:

my 06 classic engine stalled on me twice in a row yesterday after starting it and turning the bars right to pull out of lot. With the help of this forum and thread in particular i can prevent being stranded again.

2007 r3 classic ignition fail.

The ignition switch just failed on my rocket cutting off all electrical power yesterday while I was in the middle of a left hand turn at about 40 mph. **** near crashing the bike...After seeing this as a common problem with other rocket owners. I had a chat with triumph reps. They don't seam to think of this kind of part failure as a real concern. And it "isn't our responsibility to repair a bikes failures when it is out of warrenty" the question I have to everyone is, is this a typical answer for triumph?

Just got mine out of the shop. Had an issue where I would lose the speedometer and gas gauge sometimes and the headlight wasn't very bright. Tony cleaned the ignition switch contacts and its running great and the light is bright as when new. Time to order that Eastern Beaver before it gives out on me, I reckon. 2010 R3T with 20k.

no that is not typical I would be finding out who your national distributor is and tell them of your conversation failing that contact Triumph UK

Used Bike

As some of us purchase a used bike, how would we tell if the EB harness has been already added, what would we look for?
