Triumph Quit Ignoring Your Ignition Problems
Hello All, I've got the same issue and it happend in December, Last day I rode before winter 2009 Rocket, 8000K mile, started then went dead..have horn, signals..no fuel pump, instruments, starting.....got under tank finally yesterday and jiggled the connector under tank and Viola..bike started...jiggled again and dead. didn't see any apparent burned pins and sprayed with cleaner..but a jiggle on connector and power comes and goes

What exactly do I need to replace.....Six pin Connector? Ignition? Why would I need the Eastern Beaver? Help is appreciated with this obvious pain in the ass issue that Triumph has ignored

Just get the Eastern Beaver relay and you will be done with your ignition problem. I put it off for months on my R3 as I was not having any problems. And then one morning....nothing when I went to get on it.

Installed the EB relay, not a problem since. It is by far the easiest turnkey solution for this ridiculous problem.
 
your problem you find is due to the high load that it has cooked one of the connectors in the plug you can do as Richard (CanberraR3) did and find the offending wire cut it either side of plug a extend the wire on one side by soldering an extension with male or female connector and put the the opposite connect on other side, But don't think problem is solved because you fixed it if you don't put in an Eastern Beaver relay (or make your own) you will end up with a bigger problem of your ignition switch overheating and melting the solder leaving the wires to fall away then you be spend bigger $$$, So the Moral of this Story is All Rockets need a EB or home made relay kit to avoid being stranded one day.
just to explain the issue it is quite simple Triumph sent all the power for the headlight through the ignition switch some guys like you were lucky to only damage a connector while other have had to replace the ignition switch (which is some cases Triumph have replaced for them)
Also after you have fixed you connector check the adjacent wiring go into the ignition switch in case the heat has damaged the insulation, you really don't want the insulation coming away leave active/live wires to short out later
Hope this has helped, if you need a drawing and list of part to make yourself a relay kit send a PM with e-mail address or find somewhere in this great forum other post by myself and other listing and describing the fix it is not hard as long as you have basic electronic knowhow and can read colours on the wires

Depends on how you want to hook it up. If wiring straight to battery get it with the fuse holder, if using a PC8 or 3 circuit get the bare ends. You need to be sure to include a fuse in circuit however you hook it up.
