Hi Patrick, maybe ask your guy to check the balance shaft bearings. Especially if you hear the noise on the rhs rear of the engine. Good luck, as the others say. Hope you find it.

thanks for the input .. never really felt whether or not the slapping came from one side in particular semed both footpegs were equally sensing the slapping but hey!! one extra phone call won't hurt.

here are some answers to your queries
# 1 in third at 60 mph no metal slapping shift in to 4th if under 2500 rpm nothing if over 2500 slapping goes on ( I mention it is intermittent however increase RPM slapping gets more often and more predominat)

#2 if at 3000 rpm in 4th or 5th and close throttle slapping goes away ( it remain only when loading the engine if I cruise on a flat road at 2500 or above and not loading the engine no slapping but openin the throttle or climbing a hill ( hence loading the engine) will start the metal slapping

#3 opening the throttle under the above conditions will increase the frequency of said slapping rolling it off will see slapping disaepper whether in 4th or 5th

I am going to ask the wrench to check the clutch since he has looked at everything else currently he is checking the rear end and output shaft I guess we will see if all the parts ordered make a difference if not I will just let it fly till something break/crack/ explode and see wtf happens ..
I have a big trip in 2017 all summer in europe with my roadster I sure do not need the aggravation

loose timing chain ? wouldn't that grenade the valves rather than slapping ? I try to think logical but the frustration is rather omnipresent

my engine has had the neville rush 200 kit it comprise cams, pistons and manual tensioner it does not slip out of 5th or 4th

ok. is there a blip/bog/cough/stutter in the engine's running or rear wheel running when a slap noise occurs?

seems very strange that this issue hasn't left a mark on anything inside the engine...

the 2 occasions i've experienced with a slap/whack noise in engines were when (a) a bolt vibrated loose and got whacked by a pulley spinning and (b) a faulty sprag clutch which would not engage until after the starter was spinning, causing a metallic whack.

no blip no bog/ cough /stutter ' just a strong repetitive slap strongly felt in the footpegs from 2500 rpm on intermittently.
well today saturday 18 th I am told by the maintenance manager that a bushing on the shaft where 5th gear is found has been found severely scored . stay tuned for further info I was there to turn in my moly60 for lubing the drive shaft as they dismantled everything connected to the tranny all the way to the rear wheel. I also wrote to triumph of america to see if they would help covering some of my expenses?????

I've been thinking of your problem. How are the rear wheel bearings? Could they be starting to seize? I know it's a long shot. Good luck.

but the strong slapping felt through the footpegs would more likely indicate it has to come from the engine block stay tune we shall find eventually I am lucky though my mechanic is truly experienced and he also want to look at the rear end as well I dropped off my last moly60 tube for him to lube the shaft.

I remember my 05 making a banging noise. It turned out to be a torsional spring on the drive shaft if my memory serves me.
