Ok, since I started this thread I better fill in some gaps. First of all I didn't think a quick twist of the throttle and bringing the revs up to about 3K was such a bad thing (again I will never do this again, especially without my clutch pulled in), and yes the neutral idiot light (idiot for me) was on. I have to simply write this up to bad luck on my part (granted expensive bad luck).

It's not really bad...unless you do it all the time. If any manufacturer tells you it broke because you blipped the throttle in neutral tell them to jam their bike up their arse and get your money back

Ummm...maybe I'm an idiot too, because I regularly service 4 rockets and they've all been revved in neutral while sitting on the rack. Nothing extreme mind, but more than just sitting at idle

Morris was any of them 4 bikes early non updated engines. Just curious as I am wondering if the old detent wheel/mechanism change might be the difference?
I seen a 07 have problems shifting but turned out the nut on the helical gear was not properly installed and the shaft was moving to and fro in the engine case. really sucked when you have one of the shims drop down onto the minor diameter of the bearing surface of the shaft. Made for a lot of run out on the shim. Especially in the first gear output shaft. It was easier to diagnose mine when it grenade d as everything locked up and never rotated just drug a flat spot thru the steel belt on the rear tire and she slid all over from 80 mph to a stop. First time I ever searched the side of the road for a place to bail off her !!!!!!!!

There is a space between each gear where there is no drive as you can't be in two gears at once. If you have ever shifted and released the clutch and didn't have any drive then you missed a gear. It's damaging to the transmission because the side engagement dog are grinding against each other and rounding the square corners off them. Two many missed gears and the worn gears want to reject each other instead of staying engaged, that causes "popping out gear".
YEP once you round of the dogs it will pop out fof gear and that can knock the circlip out of its groove

NO I think he thought he had it in nuetral but it wasnt and it jumped into gear as he was reving it for some reason ?

05 standard without the kit, 09 standard, 12 roadster & 13 roadster. All of them have ~ 30,000 miles or so...some a little more, some a little less

In my case, I seriously didn't give a $hit. That was the second time mine f'ed up and tried to kill me. My thoughts at that moment were to off the POS as is and wash my hands of it.

I would have been tempted to just kick it over on it's side. Then as soon as I cooled down I would have ripped her apart, just as you did, to find out what happened and weigh my options? Really appreciate the pictures you've posted, thanks!

Ok, just wanted to give you all an update. I have had the bike back now for a few weeks. Unfortunately I am not in a location that has a Triumph dealership so I had to rely on local talent. I will post pics of the gears and the nicely rounded off teeth. I must say I am super cautious now with my shifting and transmission. Now my transmission seems to have similar quirks to what a lot of people have said on other posts with their rocker 3 trannies. I am seriously considering updating my transmission, maybe getting a hold of a mid teens wrecked bike and grabbing the transmission. Has anyone done anything like that or ever heard if it is possible? My mechanic thinks the transmission engineering is not up to snuff to handle the power and torque of 2300 cc's. He said the transmission would be great for an 1100 cc not so much confidence for a larger engine. Last thing, any recommendations for the fluid used in the transmission, some say it makes a difference in the performance of their bikes.
