Touring Handlebars...HELP

The rivco risers stretch the cables to thier limit, I can't imagine anything higher NOT requireing longer cables. Especially the brake line, that is pretty short.

You can go higher without changing cables assuming you go with a bit more narrow on the width. The stock bars are pretty wide. You could most likely go to mini apes like what is on a HD Heritage Softail as those bars aren't nearly as wide as the Rocket bars. But yes, you are limited. Doing longer cables isn't that big of a deal, however.

I called my shop, and the diameter is the same, so the Thunderbird will fit the R3T. The cost on these I believe are $159.88. I am debating this change up, and if I end up doing it I will post pics. I am 6'5 220, so I too am working out the seating and other issues. It is a work in progress, and I just keep plugging away trying to get fit right.

Not to Quote myself... But I ordered the Thunderbird bars today, so I am going to try them with the Rivco Risers, and the stock. I will let you know which works out best... or at all. I will post pics of it when I get it sorted.

The Triumph dresser bars are very very sturdy. Better than some aftermarket ones I've had on other bikes. The top mount is actually a long bolt through the motor !

Actually Robert, I don't have all the chrome bits that are available. I'm going very moderate this time. I don't think I have more than 1/4 of what's in the Triumph catalog.

Now on my VTX, I went all out. Chrome everywhere. Looked great, but was a pain to keep clean as it was a daily rider.

I Ordered the..

After much research and deliberation ( along with a tape measure and the expert advise from my local Triumph parts guru ) I ordered the stock Thunderbird bars. I also added some billitt oval mirrors to replace those useless round RT3 stock things. I don't want to use the risers unless necessary.

Thanks to all of you who chimed in on the subject although we got a bit off track somewhere there after the second or third post.

McRocket, try the Flanders web site. They have a zillion different bends. I'm a 5'9" with a 34" sleeve, and I'm looking at going for a lower bar, with a lot less pull back. I think the stock bars have a 16" pull back, which tends to bend me at the wrists the wrong way. I had 36" wide, 4" high beach bars on my one-year Road King money pit. It felt like a flat tracker. Neat. Good luck!

this has nothing to do with your bars. but do those lights down low help out allot?

Yes. The Motolights do help a lot. They're 35w (you can order 55w) and they are very visible for oncoming traffic.

Back to the thread topic.....

I'd be interested to see how those bars work out. Mine are stock with the Rivco risers. It's still a stretch and they are a little too wide.
