Touring Handlebars...HELP


It is indeed a Russell Day Long seat. It's broken in now and comfortable and supportive. One thing though, the 'wings' on the rider seat make it a bit difficult to put my legs down when stopped. I have to move forward a bit to get a firm footing. I have a 31" inseam.

Thanks Crazyman....much appreciated....the seat has arrived safely at day-long. Now I wait. Fortunately I don't have to worry about reaching the ground from the day-long, but........stock handlebars hitting knees, bar grip angles and touring windscreen heights are a real pain for me.
 
There's been all the chatter about the engine dresser bars and the convienience and comfort of the pegs, I decided I wanted to get a set. Wouldn't you know it ... soon as I decide to go ahead with it, they are on back order everywhere.
Just my luck.

Take a look at the Thunderbird handlebars. There's no way they wouldn't fit on the R3T. The control layout on mine is identical to my R3T. They're not true "drag" bars, but they're fairly straight. I prefer the way the grips are more straight across as opposed to the grips on my R3T being turned back a bit. I don't like how it forces a bend in my wrist.

Sorry, I meant "generically" re handlebars hitting my knees. Any bike I get has bar, screen, floorboard and seat problems for me. I have solved the bar problems on the Touring (and all previous bikes)with 12" high, 39" wide Burleigh bars. Gives me a perfect angle for the wrists and just the right height.

Thunderbird Bars

Right on the mark....

I was in the dealer and looked at the Thunderbird. If they will fit, I think they will be perfect. I don't want to use the risers. Do you think they will fit?
 
I can't imagine why they wouldn't. The diameter is bound to be the same and you certainly don't have to worry about the cables reaching. Of course, I'm an accountant so what do I know.
 
I called my shop, and the diameter is the same, so the Thunderbird will fit the R3T. The cost on these I believe are $159.88. I am debating this change up, and if I end up doing it I will post pics. I am 6'5 220, so I too am working out the seating and other issues. It is a work in progress, and I just keep plugging away trying to get fit right.

I went on Burleigh's website, and assume you are talking about the Ape's. With that set up, did you have to do anything with the cables? That has been my problem.... I can't seem to find a setup where I don't have to extend the cables, etc.
