Timing retard on 2014 R3R?

Not a nerd mate just a little older and wiser , as they say it's all good fun till someone looses an eye!, I too like my Rocket without battle scars especially avoidable ones from being a goose, been there done that.

I am not interested in wheelies at all and since every now and then mine accidently comes up I am only interested in it coming back down safely and without damaging the fork seals and such.

I think second gear wheelies on a stock r3 are a myth. Mine will do an honest to god wheelie in first by just slamming open the throttle at walking speed. No shifting my weight around or jerking on the handlebars. Second gear ain't happenen'. I suppose if you bounced it just right, maybe, I doubt it. If you watch that video of the R3R (Kevin Carmichael at the helm I believe) you can see he brings it up in first then shifts to second on the rear wheel. I used to do such things in my younger, heal up faster days. I even considered trying with my R3 when I first got it. Then did a little risk / reward analysis and decided it wasn't worth busting my arse or mucking up my bike.

I was more using the wheely thing as a poor measure of a perceived lack of power. I think I may actually be having an issue. On my way to work this morning, I got a few pops in my airbox on deceleration. Feels like a backfire.

Any ideas?

My bike is Stock..and I can pull her up anytime I like . but I am a red faced little turd

I've picked up the front wheel on my Touring twice, both times in second gear, with a pillion, by accident, and before I got the Carpenter kit.The pillion must change the weight distribution quite a bit, and gives you enough weight on the rear tire to wheelie, versus just spin. With the kit, it'll spin the rear 180 at 60 mph.

Not spinning any wheelies now, and to top it off, I think my ignition key has been on since I got back from RAA, just discovered it tonight. Wonder if the battery will come back from that.....

Saw a few oil drain bolts in my rear view mirrors at RAA 9, think it was more than just unloading front suspension...

But that was 1st gear. I've never been able to get her to stand up in 2nd. I have gotten a little lift shifting to 2nd with a passenger.

Its a new bike..... Give it time to settle in... they all do the backfire thing - first few thousand k's air box pop should disappear (Or the air box might fall out- No big loss)
