Rear Metzeler goooooone

Triumph dealer here in the Gong has quoted me $360 for the Exedra plus half hour labour to remove the rear wheel from bike and reinstall. Seems to be about the going rate and considering the dealership is right near my work, will likely go with this option.

That Exedra Max is better in ALL respects than the OEM Metzeler.

So now the question is....do I do the Avon Cobra on the front or do I do another Excedra Max?? Seems like most like the Avon. The trip I took was good by the way good except I did let the beast get away from me and it fell over. I wasn't moving. I had read a post and it's true....the crash bars do work...it laid over perfectly on the bars without so much as a scratch anywhere. A first time for me after years of bikes. Oh well.

I would go with the Stone Exedra Max 150/80R16 for $140 at Rocky Mountain ATV.

That probably will be my choice as I always think it's best to run matched tires front and back. I'm happy with the the Excedra Max so far. We ran some serious twisties in West Virginia for over 4 hours and I was more than happy with the bite and the way my R3T handled. I didn't hesitate to rock and roll the bike in the turns. The bike certainly grips better when braking compared to the Metz.

Whenever possible, I agree matched make and models are best.
However; according to my research, it's NOT critical as long as the type tire recommended by the manufacturer (radial or Bias) is used and they are not mixed.

Yes...I know it's a no,no to mix Bias and Radial Tires. A good point to continue to make.

Still running my Avon Cobra rear over 12000Ks and Bridgestone exedra max (bias:eek:) front 8000k handles perfectly  I suppose its all in the riding style and experience, but I can keep up with all my riding buddies and haven't noticed any problems,But I will go the Avon radial front next time just to see if there is any difference, considering the tyres (hard as a rock) block tread road tyres I rode on in the 60s any modern tyre is an improvement,

My Michelin Commander ll front has close to 18000 mi on it.The rear has about 17000 mi. on it very happy with thes e tires .Milage and performance

Interesting that you are running mixed radial and bias as that's supposedly taboo! Then again, running a car tire is supposed to be taboo as well??? Go figure!
You having the Exedra Max on front and the Avon on rear seems counter intuitive to me as well, but then, I ride a Roadster, not a Touring.
