ramair cracked

Well guys spent the last 3 hrs trying to get the bike back together , short version Ramair thrown down the yard cracked the sh1ts . No matter what i did could not stop the rubbers popping off , so out of frustration decided to put the standard air box back in . Well after many ***s and ****z done but now the bike runs like **** and i have a check engine light on . I must have bumped something or pulled something , so i have left it now before i break something (red head temper ) i new i should have left it and gone and brought 3 k&n filters tomorrow oh well .

Dave since you were trying to put the OEM box back on (which I never have) I would double check the Map sensor wire plug and the vacuum line. Then the Air temp sensor and make sure you did not damage the bulb on the end of the sensor. Then lets see or get some tuning software hooked up so we can read the code, fix and clear it.

To bad your so far away I would like to have a damaged filter and a set of OEM stacks so I can try to merge them and save the filter. Of course I have no need for the filter so the owner would get it back with his stacks installed on it. With the OEM clamps I bet it would fit just right.

Sorry to hear that Dave wish it turned out better for you. As the old saying goes, once bitten twice shy.
Guess it mean's more questions should be asked before purchasing.
Do you stand by your product, and will you replace it if it fails or breaks. Do you give warranties etc etc.
Good luck with it mate.

The OEM rubbers ("Runner Inlet") can be bought for £12 each at Worldoftriumph. So taking the ones that are left over from uninstalling the original and doing some cutting and gluing isn't irreversible. Might be the way to go, I mean, once the Ramair is on there it performs great from what I gather.

Before i fitted my Ramair i had read about people not wanting to try and refit the standard plenum and intakes as it might be a pain in the arse so i made sure i took note of the order it came off ,so when it came to junking the Ramair i had no problems apart from trying to do some of the fiddly clips up.

After a week and a bit of emailing back and forth, photos and questions it all went quiet and I had no reply to my email for 72 hours. Last night I sent an email asking to be updated on where we were at. Just read the reply, your new filter was posted 2 days ago. So looks like I'm getting a replacement. Pretty sure it will do the same thing. What's the old saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. What it will do is free up my old Ramair to do some modifications with the original triumph rubbers.

As for the over tightening thing I read a post on here that one of the failed Ramairs was fitted by a mechanic. I'm sure these failures aren't the fitters fault. Just a case of the wrong material used to make this particular product. If Ramair don't improve the design to fit the throttle bodies better I wouldn't buy another one. The idea and performance of the Ramair is great. The fitting instructions the best I have ever seen. Their after sales service good but leave you in the dark abit, not sending a reply letting me know what was happening. Had me sitting here for 3 days thinking they were ignoring me and I was not getting a filter. When all said and done. Needs a bit of redesign to fit the high point on the throttle bodies and may be a bit tougher rubber.

I'm still curious about the clamps and if that part could be improved. Are the clamps that come with it something like 9 mm wide? I believe the stock ones are 68mm by 9 mm. How much room is there, would a 14 mm wide clamp fit?
