Thanks again Warp for bringing that to my attention. Now I'm doing Valve clearances and I can't seem to find a Shim kit here.. Bummer man The dealers want me to exchange shims with them and I'm like No Thank you..!!

Warp, I just talked to mate about his Rocket. It was actually an early built 2005 with a black engine.. So I guess you can say that Triumph are trying to keep things interesting..

Warp i had a look at the serial numbers for you and mine is 3249082. I looked at my build date for the first time and my machine is actually built 05/2007. Glad you brought that up, now i know mines a 07 model. I'll have to confirm this with my mate about the build time but there is a bike somewhere here in Oz which is an early or late 06 model and it has a Black engine. Before my friend sold it he tried buying parts for it and he had dramas trying to convince the guy that the bike came from factory with a black engine. So after a few calls to Triumph he got confirmation that it was a factory release and not a swap.. Strange jazz..

And thank you too Warp for your input, please share all that you can in regards to this as it will help many gain more confidence and to lead them down the right path. Unfortunately there are many Motorcycle workshops who don't have our best interests at heart. So many of us are walking or riding away with lighter wallets..

it is under the exhaust header rigght on the back sid eof th eengine where the header curls down to head the to cat box . before the O2 sensor. Most deallers will have you give the vin number of the bike though which is on the left hand frame tube or ingraved in the right hand side of the steering neck. It is usually on the insurance card and regisyration. they usually want the last 6 numbers.
