In the future you might want to try dealing with Motohio cycles in Columbus. I'm not sure if your problems are all Triumph Corporate or your dealer not wanting to do there part. Motohio has always treated me great. They are an all european bike dealership and there service people know Triumph.

Distance to dealer a factor to me.

My current dealer, Thiels Wheels is 24 miles from my home. My previous dealer, American Powersports in Findlay (who now sells Victory) was 15 miles. Other Harley Davidson dealers in my area are: Signature in Perrysburg 35 miles, Ben Breece in Ottawa 40 miles, Lima Harley Davidson and Napoleon H-D Sales & Service both at 50 miles. Motohio in Columbus is about 100 miles or so. I really don't have any incentive to go that far for a product brand I have lost interest in.

Reality

Reality check. We are dealing with European bikes guys. Triumph is still growing up. They don't have deep pockets like the big boys and have stretched the realm of torque and power with this machine we all love. I've had the Metrics and the Harleys. You can keep them. Everybody and their brother has a Harley. We got into this bike because it is different. The others are over produced and everybody has one. Being different has its disadvantages though that we all know. You have dealers unfamiliar with the product because they rarely see them, limited parts availability due to low volume sales, and parts coming from Europe. It should not be a surprise that we as the consumer will have to push the dealer to get it right. Corporate is in Newnan Georgia. It isn't hard to contact them. Don't simply rely on the dealer. Most don't care about how long they have the bike. They just blame corporate when many times the dealers dropping the ball with lack of good communication with corporate is the real issue. I just had the throttle cable issue pop up. It is what it is. It is still an AWESOME bike.:D

That's all understandable. I just don't want to own and ride a "test mule!" When I started researching this bike everyone over at the Triumph Rat forum told me the bike was great. No problems. Dealer service while on the road was no problem, Etc., Etc. I say bull****! I ride long distance. I can't be wondering when and where my bike is going to take a ****! And then try to find a dealer. If this bike ever starts giving me problems I will go back to Harley or Honda. In a heart beat!

You said it, Skinner!

Talked to Triumph Customer Service Again

I called their Newman Georgia U.S. headquarters today. The rep told me that Thiel's Wheels in Upper Sandusky Ohio (my soon to be ex-dealer) already has the repair parts in their possession. However this dealer can't work on my bike till Friday September 14th. This is Monday the 10th and I seriously suspect they are scheduling cash paying service jobs in ahead of my warranty service job, making me wait even longer to get my bike back. What a piece of work this dealership is!! I'm already in contact with a lemon law attorney about all of this B.S.!!!

So the dealer is the issue. Sounds like a Harley dealer I delt with a few years ago. They kept letting the new guys work on my bike doing service work and they would forget things like, OIL!!

My son-in law got on the Harley band wagon this year in june. His new street glide has had the stereo replaced twice, the voltage reg. and battery replaced. Ign. unit failed 200 miles from home 2 weeks ago. It has less than 3000 miles on it mostly because it has been in the shop more than he has had it. My 09R3T has 19000 miles on it and has seen the shop once for a clutch shaft repair at Motohio. Bike was down for 3 days and was at the shop less than 4 hours. If you think buying a Harley for several thousand dollars more will solve your problems, I wish you well!
P.S. I bet you'll miss the thrill you get when you roll the throttle.

I put well over 20,000 trouble free miles on my 07 Street Glide. And there was a dealer in every town I traveled to in case I needed one. My wifes 05 Road King is approaching 30,000 miles and has been trouble free also. You can bash Harley all day long, but the product is a lot nicer than you might think. The only reason I sold mine and bought my R3 is I wanted to get away from the air cooled motor. I liked none of the Metric cruisers or I would have bought one.
