My manual calls for 15Nm which converts to 11ft.lb. , has been discussed many times on here that's to much, suggested torque 5-6 ft.lb. max.

That scenario happened to me. I too thought the hole threads were stripped. When I got the broken part of the bolt out ( Just spin it with a pick or small screw driver) the threads were fine. Because the bolt is hollow with a magnet in the void, the head was spinning making me think the threads had stripped. I just purchased a .89 cent bolt that has the same style head design as the fill plug. I change my final drive oil every spring so I am not worried about not having the magnet.

ABSOLUTELY!. It will be ground up by the crown & pinion and with the small amount of oil in the bevel box will be become a “grinding paste”. Only way that I found to remove it was to dismantle the diff…..that’s after spending hours trying to “fish” it out with a heavy wire. Once you get it apart you will see why you can’t “fish” it nor why you would leave it in.
