I uploaded the drivers from the FDTI site, the executable, and it installed fine. The cable accepts the driver fine, but I get ECU not responding, Check Cable Connection...

I'm assuming that it's the cable and have ordered the one Wayne recommended at the front of this thread.

Will try it Monday evening and post results

You need to load the drivers twice, one for the USB serial converter but also as a com port.

There are detailed instructions by Tom Hamburg under How to TunECU Video.

Agree that you should have the cable connected with the ignition on before starting the program.

Ok, so now I find out that my 'power' mods weren't. Oh well.

So what I have done is to install triple K&N's and install a Power Commander V with the Auto Tune module.

Will this tune work for me? I am running Hanso's latest PCV tune and everything seems fine so far. Just wondering if I get the gear to load this tune if my PCV is going to be fighting it.

Thanx!

I think it worked. I never did get the reset adaption though on the computer to blue out. So I did the key off/on thing. But, when I went back in and read the map after all was said and done, it gave me a map number of 20368, and the secondaries are open 100% nearly across the board, not quite in 1st and 2nd at low RPM, but I assume that is correct.

edit: I just put a set of TORS on, and it is absolutely obvious why TORS don't do a thing for performance, and K&Ns. The exhaust is so restricted before the mufflers, it is unbelievable.

What exhaust mod's? If it cant breathe out - it wont breathe in. Search the world for a set of Jardines or have a proper zorst made.

Basically whatever you load into the Triumph ECU will pretty much be overridden by the PCV-A/T regarding fuel.

TuneECU allows you to set some environment variables like the F-L switch and secondary throtlle etc - But the PCV-AT will basically override any instructions the Triumph ECU sends to the injectors.

Install

I have tried to connect TuneECU 10 times and always get "ECU not responding" and never "green" indicator. I have tried with the ignition in on and also with the bike started. I do have the battery connect to a full battery charger to ensure sufficient voltage. But No-Joy...

I installed the drivers per the windows 8 instructions prior to connecting the cable using the FTDI executable. I did run the install twice, although the instructions don't say to do it, the first install read the files and took a couple of seconds to install, the second time it was instantaneous, so I don't think the second install really did anything.

After install and I plug in the cable, I show an LPT of "USB-Serial CH340 (com4). I do not show under the USB a USB Serial Converter".

So, I believe the cable is not correct and will try another cable tomorrow...

Thoughts?

No exhaust mods. I thought that since I didn't have a cat box I was good there. I really wanted to cut it open and hollow it out but never did. I am running a set of TORS.

I am pretty sure that there is a zero map I can load for the PCV that will effectively disable it. I would rather not remove it all together but if I must I will - until I have money to get it dunked and setup anyway.

First you have to be disconnected from the internet or it will try to load drivers remotely. What are windows 8 instructions? In windows 7 you can update the drivers under ports and USB serial bus controllers manually. You do the ports second. So when you plug the cable in a new line should appear under USB serial bus. Right click on this and update the driver from the folder where you downloaded them to. If a new device doesn' t appear under usb srerial bus, uninstall from ports and start over.

Hi, I am a new member. I bought a 2013 Rocket 3 Touring about 2 mouths ago. Little slower than what I was expecting but the wife likes it lol and it is comfortable. Just a beautiful bike. Now I know why it is what it is and time to fix it. Thank you for the tune done ordered cable.

Now for the big questions, where do I get a cat delete pipe/collector. Will be ordering a set of D&D's in a few weeks.

Next question has anyone installed a supper charger on the touring model? Will it fit without interfering with the floorboard and or break?

If the supper charger will fit on the bike without interference I shall get it lol.

Need more power lol Payed with a Harley to day, I don't think he was to happy lol I was ridding with a passenger. :D

Wayne,

I think you hit it out of the park with this tune.

The only change on mine so far is the TORS. I didn't even bother with the K&Ns, yet.

Loaded the tune last night, went out today.

Acceleration is markedly improved, at least to my semi-calibrated butt. I hit the rev limiter in 1st before I knew what happened, I need to get the Garmin and hook up my ecoroute so I have a tach.

It pulls like a tractor, through all of the gears, but most assuredly so in 1,2 and 3. After that, you are risking a ticket, a very expensive ticket, no matter where you live. ;)

Roll on performance in 5th from 60, 70 or 80 is impressive, but very impressive when it gets up a revs a little bit. Roll on at 60 in 5th is a little Harley like, but once it hits 70, there is no stopping it, or much that can stay with it.

Decel popping, there isn't any to speak of, just that nice triple burble that we all love so much!!!

I only rode for about 1.5 hrs today, so I am not sure about the gas mileage, but if gauge movement counts, it seems to be less thirsty. But, for a while, mine may not be very accurate, too many opportunities to twist the throttle, just because it feels good to have a Rocket that performs more like I expected when I bought it.

Thanks for making this tune, and making it available to the R3T community.

I agree

I received the new cable today, everything worked great... drivers installed fine, connected to the ECU quickly. I uploaded the existing map, saved it off, loaded Wayne's map and downloaded it... reset the TPS... it started right up... let it run for about 8 minutes, disconnected the ecu, put the seat back on and off on a ride... it was GREAT FUN.

I'm not saying that it was a bummer to start with, I was ok with it... but this is much stronger.

I want to thank Wayne personally, THANK YOU!!!

I called Wayne and scheduled some dyno time to retune my R3T, a couple of days later, Wayne uploaded the map to the site and then told me if I was happy with the new map, I could cancel Dyno. Wow, I thought here is a real good guy... more interested in a happy customer than a buck. Not many left like him, a dying breed... Wayne, I salute you. I'll certainly drive the 8 hours when I've upgraded the major components per your advice.
