This looks really exciting, I thought the Touring map was optimized for torque - does this reduce it at the lower rpms/gears for a horsepower increase?

You need to understand that horsepower is a calculation of torque at a specific engine speed. Torque is a measurement of output. TQ x RPM / 5252 = HP. Calculated horsepower lets us compare different engine designs...NOTHING MORE. For best horsepower, you NEED best torque.

Being able to adjust ignition timing in different gears allows us to take advantage of time under load. Less time allows more ignition advance for best response. An engine can easily responde TOO quickly in low gears, making it hard to keep the tire hooked up to the pavement, or keep the front tire on the ground.

I would definitely not say that any of Triumphs maps are calibrated for best torque.

The touring map is optimized for emissions, the California map version is even more so. If you open a stock map, you will notice that the secondary throttles actually close considerably in higher gears, and at higher rpm. This restricts output considerably.

The map that I have shared is optimized for best output at all loads above cruise. At cruise, the map is optimized for good fuel consumption. This way you can have your cake, and eat Harleys too. ;)

fyi

I had purchased this cable from amazon and found that either the cable was bad or this version doesn't work with TuneECU. I have ordered a different cable that states it works with TuneECU and will update when I receive on Tuesday.

Make sure you load the right drivers. I had issues with one driver upgrade from FTDI that crashed the PC - Windows Blue Screen Of Death.

cable / drivers

I uploaded the drivers from the FDTI site, the executable, and it installed fine. The cable accepts the driver fine, but I get ECU not responding, Check Cable Connection...

I'm assuming that it's the cable and have ordered the one Wayne recommended at the front of this thread.

Will try it Monday evening and post results

Well, I have been reading, reading, and reading some more. I have TuneECU loaded on the laptop, I have this tune there, (I am pretty sure), I have the right cable and now all I have to do is the rest. I figure I may as well get it over with. Proceeding forward with lots of trepidation.....

Try restarting TuneECU with the cable hooked up and key on. Sometimes I have to restart or unplug and replug several times before it boots up to my ECU. Other times it boots up on the first try.
