R3R - stalling issue?

You both mentioned it was when you pulled the clutch in. Mabey a glitch in ignition cut out switch on the clutch?

Could be a bad batch of idle stepper motors????
Just a thought
Exactly why I asked about idle in "N".

Simply sounds as if the rpm's are dropping too far when the engine throttle is chopped off - unlike a carb' engine fuel supply will be zero - RPMS will drop rapidly if the clutch is in and if the engine is tight it may drop beyond what the ECU can recover.

Clutch switch - maybe. though generally those fail solid ime.

On a new bike - just MAKE the dealer deal with it. And tell them you want a loan bike.

The RPM's are dropping low. I told my dealership about it and they said if it is the RPM's then that is a quick fix. I hope so. And why would it run good for a week just to stall again? And why not all the time on every decel? I wish I knew what was wrong.

My 2013 (early 2013, not blacked out, no stripes, not derestricted) hasn't done it in a few weeks, 3000 miles. But when it did, to me, it sounded like it had loaded up, (rich). And even now, if I "blip" the throttle on downshift, the idle will drop to 4 or 5 hundred, and stumble a bit before recovering. I'd always refire mine by letting the clutch back out quickly, before it came to a stop. A chirp of the tire, and she'd fire back up. I'm leaning to the "rich" side. BTW, I have my secondaries opened up, but not removed. I'm thinking I want to play with a new tune, closing them back up a bit, but not as much as stock was. I'm overlooking it as a problem, as I love the BEAST. Kinda like Cindy Crawfords mole. You know it's there, but because the rest of the package is so nice, you overlook it! Ha!

Ditto - except for the secondaries bizzo, mines as stock as they come.

And just to make things more interesting...

This past weekend I was on a 130 mile ride to my in-laws (at least the ride made it fun) in 100F/38C + temps, with the ride going over the Grapevine in S. Cal (a fairly hefty incline/decline) and ABSOLUTELY no stalling at all! Note that it was steady-state riding at about 75-85 MPH for over an hour, but no stalls/hesitation. On the return trip I had a couple of stops before the interstate, plus normal brisk acceleration and decel - no stalls or hesitation either. Go figure.

On the RPM front, mine also seems to idle low (600 RPM-ish) especially when cold and will hunt a bit even when warm.

And like was said - I still wouldn't trade her for anything else. I got asked about her at least a half dozen times while stopped for a soda and butt rest on the way home!

keep'n it in perspective

Sir, You sure know how to keep things in perspective...

If I were to inadvertantly twist the throttle slightly while saddling up and straightening the bars, would that affect the idle even though I haven't turned on the ignition? I believe I've been doing this alot.

Nope. Ignition off the ECU wont know and there's nothing to see.

btw - http://www.r3owners.net/tuneecu-source/16152-how-copy-paste-ignition-tables-2.html#post206788 - This may have some relevance - but if the ECU's locked down - there's not much you can do. Ignition.

I got a call from the service tech at my shop yesterday asking about the stalling issues, says he'll put it on the machine on saturday when I bring it in for the 600 mile service, to see if there are any faults recorded, and then he will Email the results to Triumph. In the mean time I'll get to tool around town on one of their loaner bikes. while waiting for mine...
