Quick Release Sissy Bar for the Roadster

.............................

very nice but it does not address the need for riding solo and the next day attaching a big 26 inches tall travelling bag with optional upper roll behind the missis
what nox designed is just the perfect compromise

are you reading this NOX!! still waiting to see if you can make a few kits..

thanks nox

i'll get a fella to quote me on making a few of these so if any aussies are keen we might be able t organise a group buy...

Nox we'll have to look after you for sharing these drawings. let me know what you'll accept.

cheers mate

What will I accept in return!!!! Just to see all those smiling little faces when they are slipping their sissy bars on and off in under 2 minutes.

I have had a coupe of prices on components from engineering shops which is a little high for my liking. My problem is I live in a rural area and have to obtain services from interstate or a full days drive away, and then get hit up for freight as well.

for those that are interested....

i am having the brackets etc priced up...am speaking to a couple of local lads and will have accurate pricing soon. I've asked the to price it up on SS. once they confirm pricing i'll get an idea of how many of you want them....

Hi all, Interesting reading this and I also would consider a set of these in SS if possible, so count me in too if thats ok. When you know more Just pm or email me. Cheers Mal.

Your a legend Ponters

UPDATE

Sorry bout the delay fellas. A couple of the local engineering shops have put this on the back burner but did get a call from a bloke so went to have a chat today. Spoke about the different materials and finishes.

Sounds like the best option is 316 SS. For those that want a mirror finish he is getting Electroplating priced up. for those that want to paint...well its a bit extra but ??

Thing he said is if we use the same material for all kits and run a batch off it will end up being more economical that using steel for some and stainless for others. Obvious problem is you can't chrome SS but with a high grade 316 and top quality Electroplating I think it will be chrome enough.

Now considering I have NFI can you tell me if what I have learnt is true. If it is, once I get a final price you can always confirm or change your mind but....is everyone happy to have SS then you can chose to paint or polish up. If all happy with SS i will get a finished price and a raw price.

Please let me know.

I reckon SS is the go. If it's going on and off all the time I'd be worried about chrome holding up at the mounting points.

PS really appreciate your looking into this, mate.

And by the way, where have you got to with all the other stuff you were having done?

will start a new separate thread with the new headers

Well boys, some good news and bad news.

My sissy bar brackets have been chromed and will be here Monday so I can do the final fit up.
The bad news is the chromer's raped me of $183 for the privilege of chroming 2 brackets which I half prepared for them. This also came after telling me it should be under $100. (still not sure where to go with this)

Not sure how Ponter's is going with his pricing but I have listed the costing below I have received. Please note these are my actual costs quoted to me and I have placed no margin on them. I also have to have a minimum order of 5 sets.

Set of 4 SS body posts with bolts $105
Laser cut side plates $39
Pressing of the side plates $35
Chrome plating $183 (cough, cough!!!)

I will reserve my final decision on this little project until I see the final product all fitted up.

Polished SS should be more than sufficient as it will only be on as a utility.

Thanks for your efforts!!!
