Quick Release Sissy Bar for the Roadster

Here is the bracket laser cut from 6mm plate and bent to the required shape. It has an offset of 56mm.




Here are some photo's of it all mounted up. Ignore the hex bolt on the front mount as I need to get a longer cap screw.
As soon as I get the longer cap screws I will try the fit of my saddlebags and then send them off to be chromed.

To put the unit on or off you just loosen the bolts a turn or 2, slide the front of the bracket over the 2 front posts and then lower the back down on to the 2 rear posts.
Nip up the bolts and your away.














I will post photos of the finished product when all chromed.

are you going to make some kits for us on the other side of the pacific! also may I suggest the front lower tongue of the brackets to be lenghtened a wee bit more just so there can be no risk of the whole thing flying backward with the pax.. you know when things vibrate.........

The front of the bracket protrudes 15mm past the centre of the bolt. There is no way it could come off unless you undo the bolts.

Yeah I might be interested also assuming Nox is willing to make them available and the price is reasonable . The only reason I don't have bags and backrest is I hate the look of them they completely ruin the lines of the bike . They are handy and practical however and if I can get them off and on easily without leaving an ugly bracket behind I would definitely get a backrest for the mrs and bags for my crap .

These brackets look great Nox, I have Easy brackets for my Roadster pannier bags and they work really well, so if your idea works as well as these it'll be perfect. If you're prepared to make the drawings available I can get some made up locally, as I guess it would be dear to buy the finished article and ship it over here.
Anyway, thanks for the effort and I'll wait and see what you decide. Meantime I'll keep the OEM brackets but swap the backrest for a low sissy bar when I'm solo.

I would need to look into how many sets would need to be made to keep the price down. I only do the stainless steel posts on my small home lathe and they take quite a while to make. A cnc lathe would be the way to go.

Over the next few days I will have a set of Autocad drawings that will be freely available to anyone who wants to pM me an email address and you could set about making your own version.

FYI, Jim's Spacers (Spacers Jims Home Page) will make a set of custom posts for very reasonable. At one time I was thinking about have something like this done, but for my America.
