Quick Release Sissy Bar for the Roadster

I have been looking and waiting to see if anyone would come out with a quick release sissy bar for the Rocket. I like to remove the sissy her when it's just me and put it on the wife is on board or I need to carry extra luggage. Well it's seem like a cold day in hell before I find one so F---it, I'm going to make one.

It will have to meet the following criteria for it to be suitable.

  • Remove and install with no tools or just 1 tool you can fit in your pocket.
  • Be removed and installed in less than 1 minute.
  • Retain the mounting system for my saddlebags fitted with easy brackets.
  • Strong and good looking suiting the profile of the bike.
  • Non corroding parts where possible
So stay tuned and if successful I will make my idea's, drawings etc available to all that would like them.
I already have a couple of designs, so it's just choosing one.

Now off to the shed!

nox273,
Come out with a bolt on system for R3R forward peg positioning first!!!
I know you can!
Old riders NEED this!

Just get someone to make up something like this. Or buy them from RAASK.
Put the pegs wherever you like.

I know its been a while but believe it or not due to work and family commitments today is the first day I have had chance to fit the ezi brackets.
By the look of it I am not going to be able to refit my saddle bags. Its probably on here somewhere but someone please tell me how to fit the bags once the new brackets are on, eg what do I need to buy etc.
Thanks

Al, you pretty much need to get Ezi brackets to attach your bags on the quick release bracket. Albertaduke worked out a way to attach some other type of bag (just go back a couple of pages in this thread) but it won't really work with Triumph bags. I put Ezi brackets on my bags and they'll do the job but I don't like the way the bags now sit about 2 inches further out from the bike. I'm toying with the idea of getting a metal plate cut with the Ezi bracket "key hole" mounting points in to sit inside the bags and have a locking mechanism inside the bags rather than in the bracket. That would put them about the same distance out as the stock brackets do. If I do that you can either copy it or buy my Ezi brackets. If you can't wait that long you'll need to get some Ezi brackets.

Thanks for the reply Richard,
just been in the shed looking at the brackets and my thoughts seem to be along the same lines as you. I probably wont get much done over the next couple of months anyway due to working away so I'd be interested in what you come up with.
Cheers...Alan

Any chance of another batch of these being done up?

Very interested in a set!
Have not given this any thought but if there is enough interest I can make enquiries but would need to be 15-20 sets to make it viable I would think.
Anyone want to sell a set they are not using to Claviger????

Perhaps one of the industrious members who sell things (looking at flipmeister) would be interested in buying a few sets to sell off their site :p

For those who want to use these quick release brackets for saddle bags but without the need for EZ brackets, I'll hopefully have an alternative mounting method soon. Just have to get moving on it.
