Would not the circumference be directly dependent on the amount of inflation pressure? Less pressure, smaller circumference and a flatter profile and more pressure a larger circumference and rounder profile?

I gotta stick my nose under your fender.........
 
The carcus on the Metz is so thin it might grow right on out of the fender. I could hit the lake and go tubin on it Honestly I would think that the steel belts will keep that in check. you could blow yours up to 125 psi and check it. I already have the specs at 42psi
 
ok here is my thoughts, of those with lots of miles, how many have safe amounts of tread?

I have a tire gauge that is usually reading in the red by the time I've got 4,000 miles or so.. it doesn't look that bad until you compare it to a deep treaded new tire...

how many are riding on what the experts ( MSF etc) would consider an unacceptable tread depth? are you waiting until its flat and smooth to change it?
 
well I unfortunatly have to get my bike inspected all the freaking time so I end up buying tires quite often......
 
The regs.

As far as the Department of Transportation and or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is concerned, 2/32" or less tread depth measured anywhere on the contact surface of a tire is considered to be unsafe. If you take a penny and insert it in the tread (between the tread and the carcass) and the tread is greater than the distance fron the edge to the top of Lincoln's head, you are good to go. The front tire, however, has to be 4/32" or greater.

I don't know what depth the molded in treadwear indicators are but I presume they are 2/32".
 
For the record a new front ME880 measures .19" or 3/16" to full tread depth and .16" or 5/32" to wear bars. Difference of .03" or 1/32" left when the wear bar rears its ugly head. In simpler terms, total tread 12/64" or 10/64" to wear bars when you get to the wear bars You have used 83% of the tread, Fact- 70% of all motorcycle flats happen after a tire is 90% worn out.... 90-83= 7%, 7% of a $200 tire 14 bucks. How can you risk a flat tire and the distruction it could cause for $14.00

I am at 20,000 miles and have just put on my 3rd rear tire. 2 fronts. On average I get 5000. I know I ride hard and in the throttle a lot. I am almost afraid to see what will happen when I get hte new exhaust and programmer on. LMAO
 
well I'll be the first to admit that I can easily spin mine when shifting gears, or at least bark them...

The avon cobras are supposed to last longer according to there Product rep ( yeah ok)

But currently thay are around 75-85 bucks more for the rear..so will it last long enoguh to justify the cost? I can get a rear metzlar for 188 Plus 25 shipping

I'm passed due, that being the case. I'm going over to the darkside. I'd expected to do so (back in Dec.)to do so this month, with right at 5k on the rear. The first one I drug out to 8k and that was stupid on my part!
